F250?

I'm currently looking for a used f250. Question is should I be looking harder at an 06 or 07 with the 6.0 or an 08 with the 6.4 powerstroke? Obviously the 08s are the redesigned nicer interior and whatnot but my main concern is the motor. I've heard good and bad about both.

Good choice of truck. F250's are pantydroppers according to the LLotOT.

I thought the older ones had a 7.3?

Did you not read about it yesterday? Fords, really just the 250 but sometimes the 150, make girls wet. BB also driver without bottoms all the time in hers.
Dodges also do not do the trick. Diesel was burned at the stake yesterday; however, I helped him by offering to let him borrow mine.

Ok yeah, find a pre 04 with less than 100,000 miles.

Find an older one with a 7.3, and wait until you can buy one with the new engine. Or get a 2006 Dodge with the 5.9 Cummins.

hmmmm... that is good information to know
Poor Diesel, his truck > any F-250 I have seen FWIW

If you are looking to pick up some strange then you have to read the OT topic about it. BB explains all.

DO NOT I REPEAT NOT get a powerstroke! The turbo goes out around 100k miles. They are $7k to replace. I've talked to some Ford mechanics and they say the it has something to do with recirculating something, not sure. All I know is I saw dozens being worked on at the dealership. They have to take off the whole cab to work on them. The 7.3 is still the best motor ever made by Ford, but the newer ones suck. I see them sitting up for sale all over.

My powerstroke is getting close to 100k. I'm about 3k away. Nothing wrong with it yet.

If you can help it stay far away from any 6.0. Second to a 12 valve Cummins the 7.3 powerstroke is the best non-comercial diesel ever put in a truck.

I have an '03 6.0 with 140,000 miles on it and no problems...thing is a beast!

and to CajunFootball for the borrow
If I were looking at F250s, I would try to find a 7.3

03-04 powerstrokes are by far the worst of the bunch. Sucks you could have had an 03 7.3, one of the most desirable trucks on the road.

I promise I speak from experience...
I have a 2005 6.0 F-350. At 99,837 miles, I had my first problem, but it was a bad one. I thought maybe it was thermostat, since I was overheating frequently. Took it to the dealer, and found out it was the EGR Valve and Oil Cooler. $3600 large. Also found out that...although I still had less than 100,000 miles, I was 2 months past the 5 years, so warranty didn't apply.
-
I have since learned that this was a pretty common problem in the first 6.0s, and it is no longer a problem with later 6.0s...or those that have been repaired. Aside from that, I think it's a great engine. But yeah, if I could find an older one in decent shape with fairly low mileage, say 100,000>, I'd rather the 7.3. Too bad they quit making the good stuff.

I hit 145k in my 03 with a 6.0. Never did any engine mods to it( chips, exaust, etc) never any problems. Bought a 2011 in january and no problems with it and havent heard anything bad about them

The 6.7L seems to be a winner so far. My dad has a 2008 with the 6.4L and it has been in the shop for recalls or problems at least 4 times.

so far so good. Whats i dont understand about the 6.0"s is that they are so hit and miss. I had a friend who bought one from the same dealership on the same day and he had nothing but problems after the first month. Ford ended up buying it back
