looking at making my first road game with a camper. Ole Miss looks like the one i will be trying to make it to...is this worth the effort/drive/expense? Do you need parking passes? Do a lot of Tiger fans bring RV's?

I'm hoping to go too. I've heard it's one of the better tailgating experiences

I have made 7 SEC road trips including Ole Miss. Best tailgating at Ole Miss (besides LSU of course). Idk about the RV rules but I parked my car on campus for free there.

I guess maybe since I'm black and was there for the KKK rally is why I rank this my least favorite SEC road games. Also it was an overcast day and we lost so I'm sure that added to the demise of the trip. Walking thru the grove in their little walk of champions wearing LSU gear was fun though!

Its a good road trip, don't know about RVs, cars can park on campus for free

coming from baton rouge its actually one of the closest sec schools to us. Never been to starkville but im sure state is the closest.
I have had lots of fun every time going to oxford so i say it is def worth it. Regardless of how many fans bring rvs you would want to go to be in the grove anyway.
Gainesville is one of the worst ive been to. Where we had the rv was in a terrible place far from the stadium and far from everything else.

tailgating at ole miss is way overrated
I do not want to dress like im serving in a wedding and eat food that was cooked elsewhere and brought in under a tent with a fricking chandelier

Or sipping champagne pinky rings up.

I agree with you. Ole Miss tailgating is way overrated. I think Athens is my favorite road trip and T-town is a close 2nd.

Go to Google Maps and type in this address:
Jackson Avenue West and Mall Drive Oxford, MS
Follow Mall Dr. down to Intramural Drive and you will see some Soccer Fields. You can park down there for free and there is Power/Restrooms.
There is a fire station that is there now. It only shows as a dirt pad on the google function.
I always saw people parking there and it will keep you out of a lot of trouble with UPD.

agreed. They have the shittiest fans on earth. There is no cooking at the grove so everyone eats cold food while staring at the candelabra they brought from grandma's house. It's the most pretentious place around.
The ladies are a plus. However, they aren't as great as many here would have you believe... they just fully dress up for the games. You won't see any Ole Miss coeds in jeans and a jersey like other campuses.

as much as I ate to admit anything good about bama... that is a good trip.

I enjoy trips to Ole Miss, but this is the truth. Pretty girls, but every SEC school has 'em. The difference is that they all dress up at Ole Miss and virtually every one of them is in the Grove, which is a relatively small place. Do that at any other SEC school and folks would rave about the girls there, too.

try the barbaque nachos in the stadium, sounds wierd, but really pretty good

The last time I was there a lot of LSU fans RV"d at a shopping mall at the entrance to the road that leads to stadium( do not recall name). At least you would be tailgating with LSU fans, cause everybody on here that says it's overrated, has got that shite right. A lot of pompous arse men in bow ties but the ladies do look nice. I won't be back to the grove.

take all the RV advice and any other advice with caution. Best to contact the university direct.
definitely take this advice: do not walk around with a beer in your hand. it's best that you pour your drink in a plastic cup that isnt clear. also the grove is overrated. I've been to Ole Miss 4 times.
also the rumor that you can walk into vaught-hemingway with any cup filled with anything you want is completely false.
I know from experience.
However, the OM students have bottles of jack somehow.

we always take a motor home to the ole miss game and we park the rv just off campus in the mall parking lot. its just a first come first serve basis. they have a shuttle that you can take to the game, but we just walk to the grove and check out the sights. also, we count how many people call us corn dogs just to hear how stupid they sound saying it. its always a great trip!

So you guys know...the ones with RVs....there is a lot of construction going on behind the soccer field where Intramural Road is. They are building a new facility over there. It has that road shut down. I don't know if it will be open by the time this game happens. So my advice would be to take the RVs to the mall parking lot. Cause you can't even get to the parking lot behind the soccer facility right.

Yes it will be worth it. But any tiger fan traveling for thier first LSU away game vs an SEC school is an epic trip.Especially in an RV! Oxford is a good win.
To tell you where I'm coming from, I have visited all SEC venues at leaset once, other than Arkansas. I wanted to complete my goal before I turned 30, but failed on that last year.
Oxford is a bit overated in the sence that the rebels and ESPN claim it tops in the coutry. It is still a great expeiernce. Beautiful women, easy free parkin, easy to get in and out of town. Surprisingly hospitable fans, unless you act a donkey or hit them up for thier women -their beautiful women, above average campus, with a minor legue SEC stadium. And it always makes me laugh reading "2003 WEST DIV CHAMPS" hahaha
But Oxford is in top top 5 for SEC tailgates, which puts it in the running for top 10 in the country. I like what Tenn does on gameday the best, less LSU of course!
Another idea, we always drive to Memphis for the Friday before since I havent found shite to do in Oxford. Then we make the early trip 90 miles to Oxford on Gameday. Similar to a NOLA to BR Gameday trip. But that may be tough in an RV.
Have Fun
