Question on Installing Adobe Flash Player

After I download Adobe Flash Player 10 and click install why does it still not work properly. I looked around and read that I might have downloaded it but probably didn't install it, that surprises me since I specifically clicked "install" at one point. After I read some more it said at some point in the process it asks you where you want to save it and at then I would save it to my desktop. The problem is I never see where it asks me to do this. Anyone know what the problem is?

And have you closed and reopened the browser since installing?
