I've never had it but the last few Syrahs I've tried have all been good. How much was it?

Is this it?

That's it. I got it for $8.99. It said it was normally $25. Since I have very limited experience with Syrah's, I thought it was a good place to start.

I love Syrahs. Let me know if you like it. I'll definitely pick me up a few at that price.

Yeah, post up once you open it.

That bottle got a decent rating, but one critic seems to think it is nearing the end of its drinking window.

Wine ratings are so subjective that I pay little to no attention to them. Even if it's a little past its peak drinnkability, at $8.99, I think I'd take my chances.

I know this wine is from the Rhone Valley, but the Syrah coming out of California for the last several years is tough to beat. Hated to see the article L.A. posted a while back about the scaling back of this grape by many growers...

OK...for $8.99 not that bad, but I would never pay $25.99 for it. Maybe its my limited experience of Syrah's, but it's not doing much for me.

Very average

It's French, cold climate syrah, which is going to be very, very different from syrah from the US, or Australia. It's not going to be as ripe, or fruity as wines from warmer climates. That said, Colombo oaks the ever living shite out of his wines, so it would probably be hard to tell where this wine came from if tasted blind.
