About 5 years ago we dug a 4 acre pond at my hunting camp and stocked it with the recommended amount of copper nose brim and bass. The first 2 years we would fish and catch alot of brim and a few small bass. We'd throw back all the bass, but from years 3-present we didn't catch a single bass. We think some disease killed all our bass, but the brim are everywhere and they are enormous. My kids and I were catching brim Friday on live worms all day, I moved down the bank and cast towards a stump and my cork went down and I ended up realing in this beast. I'm guessing this bass went between 6 and 7 pounds.

This is the average size brim we were catching, some went bigger than this.

That's exactly how the ponds at our house are. Huge perch and nice bass. I rarely fish it though.

A few years ago water got too low and we had a fish kill. There were some monster bass floating in the pond

Me too man. Haven't caught a nice size bass in a while. I'm getting desperate. Too many shitty lakes/ponds in the area.

There are lakes around me, but they're larger impoundments and not good for bank fishing.

I live in one of the best areas of Texas to do shite outdoors... and I have yet to wet a line. It's driving me up a damn wall.

Thanks, I'm pretty sure it's the biggest bass I've ever caught. I let him go

I would love to eventually dig a pond on my property. Pond fishing is my favorite way to fresh water fish.

Anybody have any experience fishing the ponds by Blue Cross Blue Shield and in that neighborhood behind?

My dad would bring me back there when we lived in jefferson terrace about 20 years ago, security guards would come out and spoil the fun every time.

Nice coloration on that bass. I wish. What'd you catch him on?

They are dicks. They wont even let me ride my bike around there. There is another lake back there though.

Reading his OP, I think he caught him on a live worm. He said his cork went under.

Nice fish!

That one probably ate all your other bass and that's why you weren't catching any.

Just a tip- when we stocked our bass, the guy said to remove them at a rate of 20 per acre per year under 12". This will keep the larger bass and smaller bass in there, but avoid over population. We stocked at a rate of 50/acre.

Some might use different ratios, but that's what we did. We also stocked the coppernose at a 10-1 ratio, again per their recommendation.

Man, how long did that process take?

I don't really know how I feel about this... It's kind of like going on paid hunts in an enclosed area, right?

I don't view it as bad as the paid hunts, and it's good that your kids get some fun out of it I guess. Nice looking fish though.
