I'm sure this has been discussed on here before but has anyone ever tried to go crawfishing at the Sherburne Wildlife ponds, and if so, did you have any luck? I'd love to find a place to set out a few nets over the weekend.

Same here. I am stuck between checking out these ponds or heading somewhere further south becuase even if you don't catch them further south you can probably find someone willing to sell you some for really cheap.

I set out some traps near the Spillway last weekend. The crawfish are still a bit small and not in huge numbers yet.

I'll try again in a few weeks.

And FWIW I've never crawfished in Shereburn

Yep, done the Serburne gig. Call WLF and ask them when they will be open for the public. You'll need a 4 wheeler or UTV to get back there with all your stuff (no cars or trucks). We did good. It's been about 3 or 4 years since I've been though. I think they also limit the amount of set nets you can have as well. Get you some beef melt and let it sit in the sun for a day. When it damn near gags you, its good to go.

Great place. A buddy and I went this weekend. 11 total crawfish (not 11 lbs) in 4 hours. Set nets, beef melt, etc. Water isn't warm enough there yet.

You are limited to 100 lbs per group no matter how many people are in your group. So, if you drive up and all get out the same car and the WL&F see ya'll, you better not go over that limit are they will ticket your arse.

Ftr, crawfish don't like rotten bait. Just saying.
