Saints to restructure Bush's contract

just now reported by NFL network on their 7 pm update. But said that it would happen after a new CBA is signed.

I was kind of curious what kind of concrete information they had to know that he will be resigned but only after the new CBA. They will probably run the same story at their next little update in between shows.

My guess is that there was some sort of agreement in principle, that both sides wanted Reggie as a Saint, and that the final numbers will be crunched once a new CBA (and a new salary cap?) is in place.

If the CBA had been allowed to expire then that would be the case, but there is nothing that prevents them from talking as long as its still in place. I would imagine though that the Saints and Bush both agreed to a restructuring weeks and maybe even months ago, but they just never said anything publicly.

Good point, although the 7 day NFL-NFLPA negotiating extension may have extended the time for teams to deal with individual players. Also, the Saints may have wanted to lock up PT first before dealing with Reggie.

Hmmm, they just showed it again and it sounded much less definite. It said that the Saints "are reported to try and restructure Bush's contract".
But I don't know why it would be news worthy especially to show on a 60 second update segment if there wasn't more there.

i disagree. we did not feel as comfortable at rb last season as we should this coming season. we didn't even know who the third running back was or how he'd do..
