Sitting on 16 through 10 games, 56 game season, and then post-season. Top 3 currently are...

Cresse '00: 106
Furniss '96: 103
Walker '93: 102

Will he do it?

I think we'd have to go deep into the post season for him to even have a shot. Not to mention his numbers might be a little inflated due to our early season cupcake schedule

We're 10 games into the season and he's not even on pace to be close to the record. Couldn't this thread wait till at least mid season??

He comes to bat at least once a game with no one on base since our leadoff hitter seldom gets on in the first inning. Rhymes would have to be a power hitter and park more than a few on the other side of the fence to approach the 100 RBI mark and he isn't a power hitter.

That said, he has produced big time thus far.

If he stays in the 2 spot and Jones is moved out of the 9 spot like alot of people want, he'll never get close

The regular season is shorter than it was when some of those guys played (not sure when they officially made the change). Pitching (on the whole) is a lot better than it used to be. The bats are deader as well, so overall fewer runs will be scored. He's also not in a high RBI spot in the line-up. Not saying it can't happen, but there are a lot of factors working against him.

I'd love to see it, but I don't think so.

technically if we were to advance to the CWS, he's on pace. if he hits like he has been the next 2 weekends against real competition, then i'll take this thread serious

I understand it's early, but whats the harm in talking about it? We've got a bad basketball team, a potential rain out for a baseball game, and spring football is still a week out.

There's another thread projecting the over/under on Mahtook's season HR total, what's the difference?

Wrong. Brandon Larson had 117 in 1997. Still the SEC mark if I'm not mistaken.

I was thinking about Brandon Larson, with all those HR's how he wasn't in the top 3.

Anyway Rhymes will slow down when they hit conference play.

More than likely.

However, he did drive in 98 at Eunice last year on only 12 HR. Of course, that ridiculous BA he had there might have had a little something to do w/ that, too.
