and there was a question about other one year wonders where a player came in one year, won a nat'l championship, and left.

My point is, it seems like back in the early to mid 90's UCLA had a pitcher on the softball team from Australia who came to school for like one semester, pitched them to a nat'l championship then went back to Australia. Does anyone remember this or have other info on this.

Just wondering.

I found it for you. The article happened to be in the "Why the University of Miami Should Drop Football" issue of SI.

Tanya Harding, the Ringer from Down Under
quote:

The Bruins already had played 20 games in a 56-game regular season, but she jumped directly into a starring role. She finished with a 17-1 record, including the four tournament wins. Two days after the final game she dropped out of school, registering incompletes in her three classes. She returned to Australia with no college credits but with one trophy.

Thanks. I realize it was a snoozer topic, but I was just curious. Appreciate the effort to answer my question.
