A few threads about this already. Steve Riggins at Bear Creek on the Bayou FTW.

There are a bunch of good trainers around. Most all will have someone out there that will have something bad to say about them. I personally had a very bad experience with Steve at Bear Creek, but I also saw dogs that were great he trained.

Jay Dufour will be my next trainer.

My lab is at bear creek now with Steve Riggins and is doing great.

I've used Bart Posey with wonderlabs in the past and he did a great job for me for two dogs.

i know it varies by dog, but how long do you expect steve to take with your lab?

I guess it depends on what you want him to do with your dog. Mine will be there for 3.5-4 months. If you want more advanced stuff (starting of hand signals), it will take longer that the regular 3 months I would assume.

Chuck McCall is one of the best trainers in the Baton Rouge area... He has ran more dogs in the grand than any other trainer in the area by far..

Fixed it for you!

In the Baton Rouge area there is no finer gun dog trainer IMO. There are some just as good and maybe one or two slightly better in the state, but certainly not in the BR area.

Thanks DaHammer you are correct. Getting to the grand is one thing passing it is a whole other....

Chuck and Jason are top notch. Good friends of mine and great with dogs. Ed Thibidoux in Morse is top shelf also. Closer to Lake Charles and Lafayette though. For this area, Chuck and Jason are my pic. Mark Smith in Norco is great also. His basics are unreal.
