"I don't care if we lose 20 games in a row this year, the program is in good shape and is going to be just fine," said Alleva, who hired Johnson.

"You've just got to let it play out. I see a lot of good things for next year. People just need to have some patience."

Basketball games at LSU used to be popular spots for football players, football coach Les Miles, his assistants and recruits. Bringing a recruit to a basketball game at LSU or Auburn these days could mean an immediate de-visit. LSU athletic director Joe Alleva, who hired basketball coach Trent Johnson after the 2007-08 season, has not even been to a lot of games.

So far, Trent's recruiting hasn't been very good. If he can't recruit better players, he will have to be replaced. The Assembly Center used to be a great place to be when Dale was Coaching. It can be born again if the right guy is hired. I hope it is Trent, but have serious doubts.

People will take this out of context...he does care about the program. He just wants to give TJ time. This doesn't bother me.

I'm still on the Trent Johnson bandwaggon. I believe that next year will be a huge improvement. This team will return everyone, and add it key recruits. Experience will be on LSU's side next year.

I know what context he means but he still should have avoided saying that IMO.

Last years recruiting class was pretty good and this year he has a mcdonalds all American coming in. He is recruiting well despite a lack of Louisiana basketball talent. It takes time to go from a team playing walk-ons to a tournament team. It doesn't happen overnight regardless of how many rantards think that is "unacceptable."

ditto, but after watching them play bama last night i see where this lsu basketball team continually just kills themselves with stupid mistakes.

my thoughts after watching only my 2nd game of the season...so my observations don't mean shite.

white...looked pretty good
point guard play...incredibly bad
storm warren...huge disappointment
the team...out of control, no leadership from the coaches or out on the floor.
turner...looks like he'll be a stud
ludwig....doesn't look like an sec caliber player
derenbecker...should keep getting better
dotson...very average player
green...what's his deal? he looked good last night, but does he not show up every game?

more talent on the team next season but if point guard play isn't improved drastically, next years team will be shitty as well.

I hope this is taken out of context and really didn't mean that. Thank god we do not have 11 more games left because this team could lose 20 in a row. He doesn't even go to the games, which is amazing.

How's that Josh 3:16?

I'm sure Jeremy Foley UF's AD & Mal Moore at Bama & all the other SEC AD's say this every year.

I was waiting on someone to pounce on this false comment. The link in the OP is to a blog. It has some legitimate quotes from TJ, and also some additional undocumented speculation that Alleva doesn't go to games.

He has been at every game I have been to this year, and I have seen him in the crowd on television and on Geaux Zone many other times. That is a bullshite comment.

ETA: It was written by someone named "Diamond Leung" Sounds credible.

He says he'll stick with the losing coach. How long will he be LSU's A.D. ?

Can't shoot free throws and can't hit outside shots. I finally got to watch a full game on ESPN2 last night. We hung in there, but we don't have guys who can make plays consistently. I hope his next recruiting class can make the difference. If not, then it's time for a change. I was in school back in the late 70s during the awesome teams we had and the PMAC can rock! Sure would like to see it happen again! Geaux Tigers!

He's willing to let his coach build and develop the program, why are you against that? I'd say if we are terrible again next year, Trent will be probably go.

You blindly support Les despite his faults, why don't you support all LSU coaches? Some fan you are

He made a huge mistake in his first big hiring. Alleva's pride & credibility is hurt.

Gee, do ya think?

Miles has never come close to a losing season at LSU. There is nothing "Blind" about supporting a Coach who's won a National Championship & averages 10.3 Football wins per season.

Yeah, I have a problem with very poor coaching that Johnson brings. 4-22 SEC is frick*ng ridiculous.

Terribly inaccurate statement.

Regardless of if you agree or disagree with Alleva's statement, he should have kept his mouth shut on that one. It doesn't help anything.

Miles inherited a gold mine also. Trent inherited a decent, experienced team, then he had to deal with no talent last year and inexperience this year.

Next year he'll have experience and talent, why are you unwilling to give him that shot? It's not like he has been squandering NC talent like Les has, he has to build something, maybe he will maybe he won't, but the fact that you aren't willing to have patience is a joke but then again your post history backs that up.
