My guess is Mettenberger is starting by the 4th-5th game at the latest.

I don't think so either, but Rivals obviously doesn't beleive in seniority much. Regardless, I believe we'll see JJ under center against Oregon. Doesn't mean I don't think Mett can't win the job later in tge season.

JJ will start all the games. JJ is a Senior and its Les Miles. Mett gets 2 years to play and maybe not 2 because I heard Miles talking about Rivers being 6'7" and playing at 210-215 several times so I think he is fascinated with Rivers size. I think Mett gets a year after JJ and before Rivers!!!

JJ will not start all games....Him being a senior is going to be irrlevent this year..Mett will have 3 years to play....Rivers wont be a starter till 2014.....Mett would have not chosen LSU if that was the case........JJ may be a senior but throwing 0 tds in 9 games and 10 Int as a junior is not saying very much....If JJ is to start its because he would have dramatically improved because of mett but I dont see that happening since he was pretty much competing for his job last year and he still sucked.

He wasn't really competing for his job that hard last year. Lee had one good game (UF) and a great drive in another (Tennessee). JJ will improve with the help of Thrope as OC. But, I expect to see Mettenberger get some snaps by the Mississippi St game this upcoming season.

Because 6-5 250# won't get it done.

You do realize that Rivers is a project QB at the moment and will need a minimum of 2 years in the system before he's able to see the field.

Colt McCoy was a project as well. Let the kid practice before you call him a project. Rivers might be a stud from day one. Not likely but you never know.

No matter how poorly JJ played last year, he wasnt going to lose his job. If so, Lee would have started after UF.

I think its a different situation with Mettenberger. I think JJ will start at the beginning of the season just because Miles likes his ability to run but I don't see him starting all season, or past mid season.

Mett could be a stud from day one too. I honestly believe Reuban and shep are almost frustrated with JJ..yeah they dropped some passes but I think it has to do with confidence in their QB also.

It all depends on how well mett and jj each perform during spring training. It's a new OC, and new start. Jj didn't play well enough last season to be considered a shoe-in for starting qb. My guess is that they'll try to play jj in the first game against Oregon, he'll struggle, and they'll try out mett in the second half. He does great, and all but solidifies his position as starting qb after a great performance in spring training as well. Stamp it.

Yeah and he sat for a few seasons and learned the system. I just don't think it makes to much sense to want to see Rivers on the field next seasons. He needs to physically mature and learn Kragthrope. I think if Rivers becomes an all-sec quaterback it'll be a huge testament to Kragsthrope's ability to develop QB's in the sec. Especially since Rivers will be in his system for four years.

I think JJ practices really well because theirs no pressure which is why he started ahead of Lee...Lee is just the opposite, hes more the in the game kind of guy...I think its a diff story with Mett competing because he is accurate and consistent....He beat out arron murrary in practice and spring game at georgia so I think there will be no question on if he can out perform JJ in practice...In a game mett is unproven so far so I expect to see JJ start the first couple games with mett getting snaps then by the FL game we see Zack mett as the starter........Especially seeing how we play OR first game and no way zack is ready for that just yet....and oregon has already gotten beat by auburn whose QB could run.....Then we have to travel to morgantown and the enviornment is hostile so JJ will also start that game.

i think the hiring of krags says it all...it gives les a reason to sit two seniors....he can say, "well, mett just excelled under the new system"....i can see it coming now...miles wants to be able to throw the ball, we couldnt do that with JJ the previous two years...

Ive said this multiple times and I know that everyone says that just because miles says your gonna get playing time doesnt mean squat but I think Zack mett chose LSU because of this and he knew GC was going to be gone....He had to decide between A&M and LSU...which both had one thing in common..poor QB play...its not coincidence he narrowed it down to the 2....A&M halfway though the season moves tannerhill to QB and they started to win games and progress.....Tannerhill is the obvious choice at QB for another 2 years.....Zack chooses LSU
