This is really cool. The coach "supplied" something to a player...but I'm sure the NCAA will forgive and forget this time. Props to that coach though.

i could see the ncaa slapping them with probation for it. the ncaa is a bunch of cold heartless bastards. they went after daddy dale for helping players get to a teammates funeral. after that he called them nazis and they never stopped trying to get dirt on him until they found a tool like lester earl to lie.

Is that possible? Wonder what the recovery process is for something like that. I know it isn't nothing major, but the kid suffered from that illness for quite some time it seems like.

sounds like 2 months as far as getting back to activities but that is talking about the coach. id say maybe around the same or less for a player considering the youth of the kid.

I would be scared I would damage something that soon.

Very admirable. The coach probably gave up several years of life for the player.

probably months for the kid versus the coach who just needs to heal and compensate. The kid has to minimize risk of infection as this is flu season and he will be on anti-rejection drugs

What a great coach and such a giving family.

If anybody wants to take my kidney, they'll have to pry it loose from my cold dead hands

Coach Walter is a class act.

This blog is written by a former Wake baseball player and sums up Coach pretty well:

Also FWIW, Walter is hopeful that his first game back will be vs. LSU in Baton Rouge.

Where do you get this? One kidney has plenty of capacity to last a lifetime.

I recieved a tranplant a few years ago. It took me about a month to get up to speed. I was terribly sick before that though and had spent 4 years on the dialysis machine. Had some unexepected calcium problems.

Coach should be fine in a week. Young kid like that, 2-3 weeks.
