Bucher thinks Antawn Jamison could be a Hornet?

Who do you see getting bought out after the trade deadline?
Ric Bucher:
Likeliest is Antawn Jamison. Cavs will try to deal him, but if it doesn't happen I would expect a buyout. And the team likeliest to sign him after that is New Orleans right now. They need a stretch 4 and he would be perfect.
I'd grin ear to ear if this happened. I don't want to trade for him, but if he gets bought out I say bring him here.

I'd take it but it's not happening.
2010 - 2011: $13,358,905
2011 - 2012: $15,076,715
It doesn't look like that last year is an option year LINK , why would Jamison leave $15 million on the table and why Cleveland pay probably at least $25 million to buy him out. Maybe Jamison is getting old and he'd like to go for a ring but that seems like too much money for either side to go for.

I don't think it would happen either, but if it were a buyouy like Bucher said, he would obviously not have that contract anymore.

I swear I was thinking about Jamison yesterday about how he'd be a good fit for the hornets' needs. He's got a really high cap for another year so trades didnt' make too much cents.

Ask Bucher anything outside of how awesome Kobe is and he has no clue.
Jamison is not close to the type of big the Hornets need
The Hornets need a backup center that can hold his own against western conference bigs and rebound. They already have two jump shooting bigs coming off the bench.
Plus youd be paying Jamison all that money to play, what, 15 minutes per game? Because you cant play him together with David West

Did anyone else know that jamison was born in Shreveport?

Jamison stretches it beyond the arc. Dwest stretches it to the elbow. Jamison would be an off the bench spark unrelating to dwest starting anyways.

If he's bought out, i don't see why not. he won't have that nasty of a contract any more... so go for it

I would definitely pick him up for the minimum if we didn't need the roster spot to get a better backup center.

But there's no way Gilbert would suck up his pride enough to buy him out anyway.

He's definitely washed up now, but I always liked watching him play when he was younger. He scores in such odd, unorthodox ways. He was good at one point in time too, actually averaged 30/10 in a playoff series against the Cavs.

The Dan Gilbert goes on a murdering spree scenario:
He cuts Jamison a $25 million check and watches him sign with Miami two days later

It might happen tho, it's time to blow things up, sitting on Jamison's contract another year would prolong the misery. I can't imagine people are actually going to games with the losing streak and season ticket sales have to have tanked as much as their record.

Only if he's bought out. I don't see us trading for him of all people.
Posted on 2/4/11 at 2:53 pm to Eman5805
Bucher made it pretty clear that we'd likely sign him, never said trade for him.
