Why don't we have more Shreveport/Bossier recruits? We have had our share from Huntington, Fair Park, Woodlawn and some others, but not from the big schools in Shreveport like Captain Shreve, Byrd, Southwood, Bossier, Airline and others.

When I was in high school those schools always had some talent.

You mean "aren't".

I left Shreveport in 1988 and the talent pool was very good from the schools in Shreveport/Bossier.

Has it declined that much?

Airline hasn't had any talent in quite some time

well LSU scholarship type talent. A bunch of La Tech and ULM talent though.

The other schools are pretty much the same way

I don't know it is just wierd that when I played in high school there were alot of studs in Shreveport. Now it seems like those numbers have dwindled quite a bit.

the talent in bossier/shreveport is not on par as the rest of the state the northeast/monroe area. or the new orleans/baton rouge area. they may have a few guys that can play D-1 ball but it would be like to houston, tusla, southern miss. etc. i feel if the kids has any talent their parents may move them to texas to play football that's just my thoughts on why the talent is not as good as the rest of the state.

A lot of it is coaching as well

You just don't see many great coaches up here like you would down south

I graduated Airline in 2001 and since Junior high kids that were better than average were getting picked up by Evangel. Since then Calvary has come along. West Monroe does the same thing by getting players. The attention Evangel gets makes Parents that can afford to; enroll their kids there. If the kid is good enough they find a way to pay the cost by cleaning the school or stuff like that. Now Airline just got Evangels coach and maybe he will bring the program up to speed where kids won't want to go to a private school. 8th grade plus helps kids out too. The coaching these kids get and weight training is way more superior to the normal public school.

Calvary's

but yeah, hopefully it will help out a little bit because every once in awhile a guy with big potential will come through that school and nothing is ever made of him

doesn't happen often though

Shreveport isn't Baton Rouge, NOLA, or Monroe from a talent standpoint, but IMO it tops Laffy/LC and Alexandria.

There are too many schools, for one thing. And the ones with the raw talent have piss poor coaching.

D-1 talent? Every year.

D-1 grades? A long time.

D-1 development/coaching? A longer time.

I left Shreveport in 1984 - went to Northwood and there were maybe 1 or 2 guys that could have played D-1 football. I believe most didn't make it any further south than Northwestern.

Baseball - now that's a different story altogether.
