With all of the talent in the State of Florida, why are we not a factor there?

This is just to fertile of an area to not have a major presence in. Does anyone have any idea why we had no success there this year?

We get what we can from Florida. We had a pretty fertile home soil this year. This year we made it a priority to keep Louiana talent home to LSU.

Going out on a limb here, but perhaps every other program in the country knows this as well.

LSU has gotten some players from there just last year we got Gore. Just because LA was loaded this season so most of the guys came from in state doesn't mean LSU has trouble recruiting guys from out of state.

There was a shitload of talent at home. We missed out on the guys we were after in Florida (see Jernigan).

Peterson
Hatcher
Avery Johnson (2012)
Baker

look out for "Nacho" for 2012.

We were sniffing Jernigan as well.
We have a lot of La. talent for this class so Fl. is not a real necessity.

LSU really loaded up at every position with in-state talent (except QB and LB). There was a lot of LA depth this year, not to mention the heavyweights on the line (pun intended).

I'd say Peterson and Avery Johnson are pretty good gets.

Not to mention Petersons brother for next year is committed. Like everyone else has said, we didn't need to pull too much from out of state this year. We've had success in the past and will again in the future when needed

Hard to get everybody out of one talent pool, especially when that state has 3 MAJOR universities vying for the home kids.

you cant be serious... we can travel 1000 miles and recruit kids who grew up loving UF, FSU and miami. kids that will have those big time national powers all over them. kids that can stay closer to home and still play for a big time program.

ooor, we can sign elite kids who grew up in LA and love LSU. which sounds like the higher percentage move?

the state of florida has always been hit or miss for us. i suspect we didn't have that great of a recruiter there this year. maybe gonzales didn't arrive in time to nail the seniors; we'll see next year. i will say that florida is very crowded with the 4 in state schools, georgia, usce and clemson working it hard with auburn, bama, ga tech and us in there too. we're really pretty far away geographically from most of the florida population.

You take calculated shots, the big time players who know they're going pro basically and they are looking for the best school to spotlight their talents. You don't really get nor need the basic 4 and 3 star cause you have your own in LA and TX. But you go after the rare talents and you barely miss on guys like Jernigan who still just want to stay close to home or thats how we get Pat and Avery, Ricky-Jean, Bowe, Baker and even a throw back to Xavier Carter. And throw in the fact that Miami, UF, FSU, Bama, UGA, Clemson, and UT are all closer and it helps them break the "staying close to home" barrier.

But they have less access to TX!! We only have to fight off Texas and OU for those kids pretty much, Florida schools are in a death match fighting off outsiders that surround the state and themselves trying to keep their kids in state. Texas is so rich that UT can have who they want and that still leaves plenty for us, cause we have LA on lock and everything else is a luxury!

Are you serious? How many people do you think we can sign? ALl of Fla schools, NC, AL, Ga, Miss are recruiting there HARD!

We keep our players home and steal from other states when we get a warm feeling from a player.

THink about it a little bit please

i think we should totally set up shop in houston. if they arent all UT, swoop in and get them. i think the 1 tank of gas distance to BR is a gigantic selling point. get away from home, but not too far. i personally think E TX/hou are an under mined asset for us.
