Can anyone explain the difference between the two? My totals are very similar, with the priority total being slightly higher than the philanthropic.

BS. It attempts to explain how to get points and such, but doesn't really tell the difference between the two. If there is something that explicitly says so, I haven't found it. Please send link if you know.

"Donation to TAF Philanthropic Programs" means either (1) a donation to approved TAF philanthropic programs, or (2) other donations made to TAF which do not involve either the right to purchase tickets to LSU athletic events or significant return benefits. Contributions to Team TAF, the TAF Collegiate Club and annual contributions paid by University Club members are not donations to TAF Philanthropic Programs.

so when you buy tickets its priority, when you pay your TAF dues its priority.

So do the philanthropic points really mean anything in regards to tickets?

the points you get from your fee you pay every year goes to the philanthropic. that is how it was explained to me by the TAF rep a year or so ago.

Ok, I'm going to call them in the next couple days. I've had two tickets (football) for 3 or 4 years, but they aren't side by side. I've requested an upgrade each year but still nothing. I want to find out WTF I can do this year to ensure I can get them together.

Philanthropic ranking is the one used for NEW season tickets or ADDITIONAL season tickets and Upgrades to existing season tickets.

Regular Priority point ranking is used for away games/bowl games/SEC Championship game.

philanthropic does not take into account donations associated with existing season tickets. Therefore, if you've never had season tickets through LSU but continue to give to TAF each year, your Philanthropic ranking will be very high. On the flip side, if a season ticket holder JUST has season tickets and does not give extra to TAF every year, their Philanthropic ranking will be low (although it won't really matter because they already have season tickets).

My current seats aren't bad and aren't that far apart, but my son is getting old enough now to bring to a game or two but much too young to sit alone. When I first got these two I was certain that I'd have them together within a year or two, but I'm getting frustrated now.

You could always move your seats to the north end zone (even if the seats in the NEZ aren't together).... and you'd always have the option of sitting together on the edge of the student section.

I e-mailed TAF about this yesterday.

quote:

The philanthropic ranking is used to allocate all seating and parking for on campus events at LSU. So we use this ranking and point total for any season ticket and parking assignments (new or upgrades) for football, basketball, baseball. Philanthropic donations are ones used for specific TAF facility projects that benefit our athletic programs at LSU. For each $1000 donated to a TAF philanthropic program (including membership donations), you receive 2 priority points. By donating $100 for your TAF membership, you receive 3 TAF membership priority points which help make your ranking higher so I would encourage you to continue to do that.

The lifetime ranking is used to allocate all tickets for anything that is off campus which include away games, bowl games, postseason events, etc. We do give credit for all tradition fund donations. You receive 1 priority point per every $1000 that give towards the tradition fund and that is why you saw a total point increase. So you get more total priority points by doing your TAF membership and donating to specific TAF projects.
