Can he still go somewhere else if Miles goes to Michigan? Would he?

Most schools will release a player from his obligation if a coach leaves and the player wants to leave also, but there's no rule that says they have to.

The "Mettenberger" thread (10 threads down) answers that question. His dad basically said he's coming even if Les bolts.

"We sent Coach Miles a text, but we hadn't heard back," Bernie Mettenberger said. "We told him we understand it will be a difficult decision for him to go to Michigan, but if he does we understand it's a business and for him to do what's best for his family. But we sure don't want to see him go. Zach's relationship with Les Miles was a big reason for him deciding to go to LSU, but he signed with LSU, not Les Miles. They have two pro style quarterbacks coming in (Mettenberger and Stephen Rivers from Athens, Ala.), so that looks like the direction they're going. But in my opinion, I don't think Coach Miles will go to Michigan. He'll never be able to recruit the kind of talent there that he has at LSU to win a national championship."

The senior Mettenberger shows his wisdom.

I know this is late info on the topic but just found out today my wife's friend is very close to the Mettenburger family. She said today that if Miles would have left LSU Zach wouldn't have gone to LSU. We all know Miles can recruit some kids go to school because of the coaches alone. Go Tigers!

Pretty sure he signed his letter before the Miles decision, so he wouldn't have had the option to leave...all LSU

so your wife's friend knows more about Zach's plans than his own father? I have my doubts.
