BATON ROUGE - LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva made the following statement regarding head football coach Les Miles today as the Tigers returned from its 41-24 win over Texas A&M in the Cotton Bowl:

"I have not been contacted by anyone from the University of Michigan about Les Miles. Les Miles is LSU's head coach and we are going to do everything we can to keep it that way. He has had great success here and we plan to keep enjoying that success under his leadership."

That was my feel too. To say, "We'll do everything we can to keep him" means we ain't certain we won't lose him.

I trust the PLAYERS quotes in the papers... both Houston and Austin TX... (probably via AP wire) wherein both JJ and Ridley are quoted as saying Les Miles addressed the team AFTER the game and said... that the rumors about him leaving to go to UM are untrue and that he will be the coach at LSU next season.

I trust that a LOT more than internet and fan chat BS, speculation.

Anyone that WANTS him gone is an idiot.... period!

Yes - it will be a nervous week.... but w/i a week UM will make their intentions known and will probably name a coach.

Really no risk of Miles leaving to go NFL or any other school.... just UM.. and I personally think he's at LSU and is recuriting hard for LSU (as soon as the dead period allows).

"He told us this is his football team and this is where he's going to be," Ridley said. "We respect our coach, and this is our coach for right now, and we're going to enjoy him as long as we can. Coach Miles is a Tiger. This is his group of guys, and he's proud of us. I think this is where he will be next year."

You can't believe what coaches tell players. He just bolted OSU without even saying bye to the team players. Look it up. I feel like he is a stand up guy, but talk is talk.

If he goes, he goes. If he stays he stays. He shouldn't get a renegotiated contract unless he gets the team another SEC title or at least to Atl. If he leverages us vs UM I say let him go.

He didn't meet with the players due to not getting permission from Mike Gundy.

Shouldn't this be stickied on the Coaching Changes board?

people on here read way too much into things. Our AD comes out and says that Miles is our coach. HE HASN"T BEEN CONTACTED. HE IS OUR HEAD COACH AND HE WILL DO EVERYTHING IN HIS POWER TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. This was supposed to be a positive message from our AD to the fans, not a message stating any worry from our officials. I'm not saying for sure he is staying, to be honest I don't know who to believe. But for now I have to more believe the players word

I think that sounds like a contract extention and more money. Hope Alleva is right.

He asked to address his old team...and was denied by Gundy.....and he honored the wishes of the new coach. Like a man of honor.
