Les is going to Michigan. Michigan was respectful of Miles' position at LSU and waited until after the bowl game. Michigan probably waited because when they called to get permission to speak with Miles, they were asked to wait until the bowl game was completed.

Miles has made some comments in an effort to prepare his team for the bowl game, but he has, in no way, squashed anything. He has left it wide open for interpretation.

I personally respect the fact that he hasn't pulled a "Saban" and flat out lied to everyone. He has made an effort to deflect without telling a fib.

If Michigan was going to hire the guy from San Diego State, they would have done so by now. If nothing else, but for recruiting.

Michigan will make an offer to Miles. The only question is whether Miles makes the jump.

Not based on what I read and heard, it was more of a deflection. Plus what kind of coach would drop that kind of news on his team right after the big win. I hope I'm wrong.

Why not just say "No, you do not have permission to speak to our head coach"

I suspect this is what happened yesterday.

And as of when he told them that (and even now), he was/is.

My guess is that once it became official that Harbaugh was taking the 49er job, their people started negotiating in earnest w/ Miles' agent. That would have been last night. Nothing gets done that quickly. And Les is a character guy. He's not going to rain on his kid's victory parade after a big win by announcing that he fully expects to be leaving them. He's better than that.

I hope it's all legit and that he's staying. Last night convinced me that Les Miles is a good OC away from being a great head football coach. I'm just not necessarily encouraged by the circumstances or from what I'm hearing.
