Unfortunately, it looks like I'm going to be driving to my buddy's place in Southwestern Virginia while the game is on Friday. Does any one have any idea if I can pick up the game on some AM radio station, or am I just completely screwed?

If you're going to be on I-81, you shouldn't have any problem picking up WWL...

You can also probably get it on XM Radio - try 142, 143, 199, 200 or 201.

butch...can you enlighten me as to what WWL is? Don't know exactly what route we're taking, but theres probably a fair chance that we'll be on 81 some.

how would a LSU fan not know what WWL is?

WWL = 870 AM out of New Orleans

It will be on 94.1 FM in Norfolk...you can usually pick that out up to about Richmond. Not sure where you're coming from.

870 AM is your best shot and I can usually pick it up anywhere in Virginia after the sun sets in Louisiana. Can't pick it up at all in the daytime up here but at night it's pretty good.

Norfolk Tiger is right about the "after sunset" coverage of WWL. My wife is from SW Virginia and in the pre-XM days I would listen to LSU games when driving back toward DC. It gets very spotty in Northern Virginia and is not reliable in DC and much of Maryland.

The Cotton Bowl will be on Westwood One stations, but that network is somewhat ad hoc. But there are stations in both Roanoke and Blacksburg that might carry it as well.

Good luck!!
