UPS: "ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS"

So a 2 pound package I had to ship yesterday for next day early AM delivery in Lake Charles( I am in Shreveport) is sitting in an airplane in LOUISVILLE, KY!! The plane is not scheduled to take off until tomorrow.

Figure those logistics out...

all domestic overnight ups packages route to the sort center in louisville.

just like all fedex goes to memphis.

do you really think that there are enough overnight ups packages being sent from shrevevegas to lake charles every day to warrant a direct truck?

Just like FedEx, everything goes through a hub. I can promise you they have those logistics figured out in ways that you couldn't even dream of.

They would be broke if they sent every 8am overnight package via direct route from station to station.

95% of first overnight packages go through SDF for UPS, MEM for FedEx, and formerly Wilmington for ABX.

If the inbound freight did not get to the outbound sort plane quick enough, they aren't holding a 757 full of freight for one package heading to shreveport.

I know, I'm just saying that it's not due to the runways being frozen or anything.

No, I know but when you've got about 50+ 757's landing all within a 2 hour span and 15 of those are delayed because of bad weather in the Northeast... shite does downhill FAST.

re: UPS: "ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS"

I understand the responses I just wanted to vent. It was something that was easily avoidable(by shipping ground) but our receiver HAD to have it sent NDA AM. Now its a cluster frick....

I did call UPS and talked to them and the lady kinda laughed with anot this shite again voice

it happens at least once every year during the holidays.

as others have said, it's their delivery channels. how would they find your 1 box on an 18 wheeler full of ground boxes to get it delivered on time. not the only reason but part of it.

next time your solution could be to ship it "hold at ups" and they could go pick it up at ups. would've saved a ton of freight too.

- Deliver it yourself
- Hire a courier
- Compare overnight weather conditions in SDF and MEM before sending.

Talk to your driver too, they usually know where the trucks/planes arrive and what is shipped on the ground vs in the air.

For instance: anything from Pascagoula, MS to Panama City, FL with DHL wasn't getting on the plane to Wilmington.
