Just because this guy gets all fired up he has done nothing to prove he can coach. Big 12 defenses, statistically, have been a joke for years. I think he is in way over his head and will get his arse handed to him in the SEC. He should have climbed the coaching ladder starting at a much smaller school. Incredibly desperate hire for Florida....they could have done much better.. IMHO.

**** that noise. The guy is going to be making huge sums of money with a contract at UF. It is easy for you to say "he should have started out at smaller schools" when you aren't having millions thrown in your face.

Worst comes to worst he is a bust and gets filthy rich from being their coach for a few years. Best case, he does extremely well and gets filthy rich. He is in a win-win.

Nick Saban, Tommy Tuberville & Mack Brown all disagree with you

Yes they have, outside of OU's defense most Big 12 defense's have been some of the worst in college football for the last several years. When Muschamp came to Austin that all changed quickly, thus the proof is in the pudding with his defense's the last 2 years at Texas which have been one of the best in all of college football.

Maybe, maybe not, but thank God for gator fans that Jeremy Foley is a lot more qualified in such matters compared to you.

For him? Yep. Not so sure for the program. Remains to be seen. I like the hire simply because I believe he has a decent chance at failure. Works for me as an LSU fan.

Yes, for Muschamp it is a win-win. UF is definitely facing both sides of the coin.

Are you upset? What is it with LSU fans on here acting as if they are mad about this? Perhaps we have some closet UF fans.

When Brown got rid of Davis I said I would fire Muskrat first because his defenses are crappy. Texas gave up a lot of yards on Defense this year and last year. Wow cannot believe anyone would take that guy has a Head Coach. Brown got to be happy now that he does not have to fire Muskrat!!!!

Just a bit early to call him a bust, LOL.

He should have done instead of going to UT and then UF?

WTF?
No, they haven't!
With all the 5 stars on D, the level of play has not been there.

I'm glad Florida hired him and Applewhite. Now I don't have to worry about either being hired @ LSU.

He lost the confidence and control of one of the most star-studded teams in CF this year and has questionable leadership skills. Jumping around like a chimp is not proven management ability.

I agree. I'm happy for muschamp and I'm happy for LSU. He's never been a head coach and I think at the very least it'll be a sharp learning curve for him. I'm sure he'll be OK but not great.

So having the #3 & #7 ranked defense in college football the last 2 years is not good?
I guess LSU's #8 ranked defense this year wasn't good either.

I think its a great hire for UF. Offense wins games but defenses can win you championships!

I don't think it's a bad hire for Florida. Seriously.

But I do think it's a step down from Urban Meyer. Honestly, though, practically anyone would be a step down.

That's good for us.

Bottom line on Muschamp... I think he's going to make his fair share of rookie mistakes. I do NOT think Florida is going to be the same level of threat every year that they have been under Meyer in the 2000's.

Need to correct myself here. Historically Texas's Defense has been weak...40-50 in the nation. I did not realize their recent surge into the top 10 (last 2 years). I still think he is in over his head and a storied program like Fla. should have been able to hire a proven winner with head coaching experience. IMHO

You wanted UF to hire Nick Saban? You seem upset about this hire. You're on UF's side now? You're not the only one though who seems upset about this.
