Was talking with a buddy who works at rivals and he feels"pretty good" about him to LSU.
Posted on 12/11/10 at 12:30 pm to AllEyesOnThree
"Pretty good" as in 90% FSU, 10% LSU?
Posted on 12/11/10 at 12:35 pm to AllEyesOnThree
I hope your buddy is right. A tandem of Timmy and Freak is just frightening

The odds are significantly better than that.More like 50/50 as of now until UF makes a hire.If Stoops he could snag him.Great reputation with Dlineman.

FSU is LSU's main competition...
I doubt we land him but he'd be a nice surprise with the Robinson sting.

Jernigan is the best player left on our board
Getting him and Freak for a DT class would be as big of a recruiting coup as LSU has had in a long time IMO
If you listen to the long-time SEC coaches, they'll tell you arguably the biggest key to success in this conference is high level D-Line play, particulary from the interior

Thanks for your expertise there
Care to elaborate any?

FSU is the top competition right now.If Stoops goes to UF and makes Jernigan a priority(no reason not to)then watch them. They are his favorite team. All he needs is a reason to go there. We need him to make another visit or our chances decrease immensely. If he does then I'd say we've got a great chance.

I read somewhere he is coming in for the family day on January 21st

Until you give me a solid reason to believe that a top prospect from Florida that likes UF & FSU will come here, then I'm going to assume he won't. I'm not getting my hopes up and believing the hype distributed by pay site folks looking for subscribers.
Statistically speaking, history is on my side.

Not the person the post was intented for but i'll give you some reasons to be at least a little optimistic.
Jernigan and his dad loved it in Louisiana and at LSU
Most of the LSU admiration info I've gotten doesn't come from website writers.I don't subscribe to any website. Most of the info i've gotten comes from some UF guys that are really in tune with these kids(some even talk to these kids and interview them)and give honest feedback that isn't biased towards UF.
The other reason is a similar one to Ego Ferguson last year.Jernigan may be looking for a new start. If he and family decide that he needs a new start then LSU is the place he will do that.If he feels that he needs or wants to stay home then he will choose one of the Florida schools.
I'm not overly optimistic about him coming but I do like our chances considering his admiration for LSU.If he visits us again then my optimism will go up exponentially. If not then i think we lose out on him.

Is this really a "family day"? It sounds like it is just the big visit weekend we have every January.

They give it the name "Family Day" like the one we had last weekend (that wasn't much of one due to playoffs), but yes, it's just the big recruiting weekend we have every January

yep, patrick peterson, bowe, ridley, sam montgomery, shepard, all considered the home school and came here.

Before we hired Haley I would say we had no chance. Say what you want about Miles, but he struggled closing on NSD recruits from OOS. Under Haley we have really been solid late in the game.
Do I think he commits here? No. Is it the "no chance" kind of decision it would have been if Lane was still here? No. If I'm being optimistic I say it's 65-35 FSU.

Should I start to list all of the OOS recruits that were "leaning" to LSU throughout the years who ended up staying home?
Do you really want to play that game?

That's a reasonable opinion.
Stating emphatically that he definitely will not come here is not.
