I have netflix and am currently streaming movies through a wii which doesn't support high def. I want to upgrade to high def streaming. what's the best way to do this? I am not a gamer so not interested in xbox or similar. was thinking roku vs internet ready blue ray/dvd player.

I recently bought a Roku and LOVE it. I bought the middle of the pack Roku (XD) because I wanted the extended range wireless with 802.11n compatibility and wanted the ability to run 1080p. It has been a great little device.

ETA: I didn't go the Blu-ray route b/c I already have a PS3 for my main TV and wasn't interested in another Blu-ray player, just wanted to be able to stream netflix in the bedroom.

+1 on the Roku. I can't compare it to anything else, but we love ours. Real simple, easy to move between TVs, and cheap.

I know there are some cheap wi-fi BluRay players now, but I would make sure you check reviews on how the interface with Netflix works.

The middle is the one I got b/c I wanted the 802.11n capibility as well as the ability to run 1080p. If you only need 802.11g wireless and/or if you only need/want to run 720p then the base model would be enough. Check out the breakdown of what each model offers and figure out what features you want vs. what you want to spend. The middle worked out perfect for me. Just as an FYI, they do charge tax for these.
