Looks like Netflix Instant has added seasons 6-12 of SNL today. I'm sure the episodes are truncated based on different sketches/bands that couldn't be cleared but talk about a great addition. Sure, the 6th season almost got the show cancelled (and so did the 11th I think), but it's great to see some of this stuff out for public consumption again as the re-runs never delve into this era anymore.

Plus, we get all of Eddie Murphy's run along with the Guest, Shearer, Short, Crystal season; and the first season with Carvey, Hartman, Dennis Miller, et al.

Hate to be "that guy" and bump my own post; but is no one else excited about this? Figured there'd be a few others out there who appreciated this weird stretch in SNL's history.

I'm containing my enthusiasm for the release of Season 20, Episode 20

I've been dying to see The Polar Bear Sketch again for quite some time

A lot of critics say Season 20 was a low point for the show, but dammit if I didn't gravitate towards this season when they re-ran the episodes on Comedy Central. Steve Martin, Baldwin, and Clooney episodes were highlights along with...

This Duchovny episode. What a great sketch you picked, especially the punchline at the end and Norm's little monologue.

The problem with many of these episodes is they have been severely cut.

As an example, the William Shatner episode from '86 does not contain the Star Trek convention sketch, and I don't think the alternate ending of "It's A Wonderful Life" is on there either.

Not to mention the musical performances (from every episode I've checked thus far) are gone.

Releasing these seasons on Netlfix is good, but there's still a lot missing.

Yes, and that Shatner episode really was made by the Star Trek Convention sketch. I'm surprised "It's A Wonderful Life" isn't on there as it is currently available via Hulu and the SNL website.

Still, even with the cutting (severe in some cases as some episodes are only 25 minutes or so) I still enjoy the opportunity to see some of these episodes that seemed to be lost when Comedy Central stopped running the show.
