For the best production make sure that you plant four different species of blueberries together.

If I recall correctly, blueberries take the same soil as azaleas, so they should be good almost anywhere in south Louisiana. I put mine in my backyard, hose them down once in awhile, and they look good.

Luck

Parents have a few, seem to produce well with little maintenance.

Yes. Around Covington. They have several places where you can pick your own.

Nurseries sell good ones.

My best advice is plant them in the sunniest part of your yard. While you'll produce each year the best crops come after the most growth of the plant.

Magic number of bushes to plant at one time is 3.

There's also a pick-your-own place on Greenwell Springs Rd. just outside of BR. I think you pay by the pound or something, but you can eat as many as you want before you check out.

We have some blueberry bushes at our camp in Tunica Hills, but the birds usually get to them before we do.

You're right! I found this website that has them all listed. They even have a few places to pick strawberries, figs and other stuff. I never knew about all that.
