Abita in cans?

Serious question: is there such a thing as Abita (Amber or otherwise) in a can?
I'm heading out to Talladega; da rules are cans-only, no glass. Think I've seen Shiner in a can somewhere here in BR but can't remember where. Anyone got a line on where to look for either? Tried Calandro's Perkins already, no joy.
TIA.

not yet. I say yet because I emailed Abita once and was told they will one day soon. That was almost 2 years ago.

If you want a good beer in a can look for the Southern Star stuff.... I know Clandro's and Whole Foods should both have it. The Bomb Shell blonde is a easy drinking beer.

Calandro's has Shiner in a can right now

Would you say that canned beer cheapens the brand image?

If Abita puts their beer in a can, I swear I'll stop drinking it.

not as much as it changes the taste. Most craft breweries stick to bottle only, mostly because they are too small to do both.

I assume you mean Calandro's on Gub'mint Street?

I don't think it does...there's some pretty good craft brew that only comes in cans theses days

Calandro's on Perkins has a better selection that the one on Gov't.
ETA: I think cans do cheapen brand image. Not for me, but for the beer snobs they are targeting.

Canning alters the taste. Best canned beer I have ever had is Surly Brewing, from Minnesota.

Nah...there are a lot of good craft beers being put in cans. Out here 21A, Anderson Valley Brewing Company and a few others.
Craft Beer In A Can? A Gutsy Move Is Paying Off
I think in the future drinking a good beer in a can will lose the stigma sort of like screw top wine bottles.

Did you also say this about Wine with a twist top bottle?

Albertson's has Shiner in a can (Box of Bocks).
Whole Foods has Newcastle in a can.

Drank a lot of this in CO, but not really my thing.

Oskar Blues stuff is GREAT! In SF they are $9.99 a 6-pack, but they are one of my go to can beers.

yeah, but now that someone said Albertsons, maybe I saw it in the Albertsons on Gub'mint Street

Or Albertsons on College, which is where I just found it. While collecting Texas beers I spread the love and also picked up some Southern Star at Marcello's.
Thanks to all, now I will be properly hydrated while watching my boys drive fast and turn left. At 200 MPH.

Southern Star rocks. I have been out to the brewery and Pine Belt Ale is by far my favorite beer of theirs.
