and play just that first series then let Lee play the rest of the game. Not starting I think gives Lee a chance to calm the nerves and see whats going on then just go out there and relax and play. Starting him in that hostile environment has the potential for something bad to happen early and if the one QB we have that can produce loses confidence we are screwed. Not to say he wont make bad plays or poor decisions as the game goes on but you definately dont want it happening on the first series. That said clearly he needs to take 90% of the snaps as we all know for LSU to have the best chance to win.

I don't know why he "should" start, though its irrelevant which QB gets the ceremonial first snap.

Jefferson should go to Mama G's and get himself a sandwich. Enjoy listening to Gary and Verne. That way he wont' have to cry and pout on the sidelines.

I actually dont have a problem with this. But Lee has to play a majority of the snaps for LSU to win.

I understand what you're saying, but it can also backfire. If JJ turns it over in that first series or just fails to produce a couple of first downs, he is putting us in a hole and getting Auburn's fans even more fired up. How is this a good thing for Lee when he comes in on the next series?

Lee has been in that hostile environment and came out with a W in 2008. He'll be ok. Not that I totally disagree with you that he should watch the first series from the sidelines.

The problem is that, in each of the last two games, Jefferson has yeilded a turnover in his first two series. We can't afford to begin the AU game with some devastating turnover in our territory.

Let Jefferson play the first series and that's it. Lee seems to maybe, kind of, I guess, supposedly feel better coming off the bench.

If Jefferson plays as much as he has been, LSU won't beat Auburn. It's as simple as that. He's regressing and has gotten downright horrible.

like the avatar msutiger. I remember it being made before the Florida game and it actually became reality.

I've been a JJ supporter ever since they recruited him. But clearly, this season, J. Lee is performing better than JJ at QB. Since when is the starting QB job on any SEC team supposed to be a "confidence booster"? Every man on the team starts in one of those 22 positions because he's the top guy on the team playing at that position at that particular time.

Seems like every time JJ is playing it's a "lost" series. And LSU will need every opportunity to put points on the board agaisnt the War Chikins this Sat.

Lee just typically has played better in games he hasnt started and come off the bench for whatever reason. Who knows why, he just has. Hopefully JJ wouldnt completely frick the first posession and move us somewhat like the Florida game then hand the keys to Lee.

At this point I'd rather see TC play that Jefferson. Undoubtedly Jefferson is one of the worst 10 Qbs in the SEC in the last decade. There isnt a thing he has shown in a game that would dictate it being a good idea for him to "start" the biggest game of the year!!! He isnt a SR. on SR. day! He hasnt earned $hi*. You can't even make an argument anymore for cupcake games like this past week. If anyone on this team deserves to be a product of attrition it's Jefferson.

Good Lord!!! This argument again? By that logic, our entire 2nd string should sit the bench till they get "calmed down."

How do we know he's better off the bench? Has he started a single game this season yet? You can look back at his one start last season, but it's obvious to anyone with even half a working brain cell left that the 'light' has come on for Lee. He's playing at a much higher level than JJ.

The best players need to be on the field as much as possible this weekend. If not, then we're screwing ourselves.

Any Auburn fans out there? Tell us, truthfully, which QB would you rather face Saturday? JJ or JL?

because lee cant handle the pressure of playing the first series duh! Its way less stressful than putting lee in with 3 min left in the game twice in a row and telling him to win it for us duh!

let me point out that since Lee has not started any games this year, your post is a logic fail.

Lee has not started one game. so how do you measure the ones where he started, vis a vis the ones where JJ started?

you dont. try again. Thanks for playing.

Okay. but he only be allowed to pass the ball as far as it would be punted and no shorter.

please, JR had the same problem as a FRESHMAN. He's a junior now. I'm sure he can handle the pressure of starting, it has to be nothing compared to 4th and 20 vs. Tenn. or a last minute drive in a very loud Swamp

Why should JJ start? So he can spot the other team 7 on the first possession?

exactly. let's say we get ball first. i'd rather at least change the field position rather than going three and out w/ jefferson and give auburn the ball on a short field. we do not need to let auburn get on the scoreboard first in a road game. let's say auburn gets the ball and scores on their first drive, jefferson starts, forces us to punt, and auburn goes up two scores. it is stupid to start jefferson in any circumstance. the whole "let lee calm his nerves" is a total cop-out and simply a bunch of BS. he's started games in the swamp and jordan-hare. he knows exactly what to expect

We are undefeated this year when he starts so give him the start. I still think that we should have Lee play most of the game but at the same time, bring Jefferson or even R.S. in for a running QB offense.
