Didnt read the link but let me guess he plays an instructor at top gun school who has to come out of combat retirement to fly a mission.
My favorite Tom Cruise movie is the one where he plays the young cocky guy who's friend dies or suffers and then Tom gets the girl in the end.

Actually, I just read that Cruise's part would be small, so the movie likely wouldn't even be centered around him and his part would probably be a cameo.

he needs to play an old drunk washed up anti-military dude. then and only then could this work. Assuming Shia LeBuff plays the lead.

Top Gun was lightyears better than Iron Eagle and I think a top gun sequel would be better than the most recent air combat movie I saw, that WW1 movie I can't think of the name of.

I'll watch it only if Chappy Sinclair makes a cameo in the movie. Kinda of a Top Gun 2 meets Iron Eagle 5 plot.
