I have been very critical of Miles...

regarding his unwillingness to play JL this season. It could have cost us the NC game and UT games, and not letting Lee get the lions hare of the snaps last night almost cost us the UF game.
However, it has not cost us anything but style points so far...maybe because Miles is the luckiest coach in America.
If Miles had started the season with JL as the starter, or getting half of the snaps, the bulk of the fanbase would not have accepted Lee as the QB, and would have never seen just how limited JJs abilities are. Now that Lee has been working in slowly and has won us a couple of games in the clutch, the entire LSU fan base has embraced him as THE QB.
Although it has been serendipitous, the QB situation may have worked out perfectly for Miles. If he now begins to give Lee the bulk of the snaps, as he should, he will have made the QB switch in a way that both gives the fanbase a chance to recognize JL's abilities, and in a way that doesn't embarrass (and ruin the mental state) of JJ.

I think JJ's mental state has been ruined. He is getting chippy with teammates and has lost confidence in his arm. It has been time to make the move if he wanted to save JJ.

At one point last night, I think I actually saw him crying.

Les Miles will never get a lifetime pass with me. In my opinion Les has to earn his money one game at a time one season at a time. Les makes 4 mill a year. I am not gonna coddle him. That said Les will get his shot. Every coach in college gets this treatment. Les got his bacon saved this year by a kid he does not even have faith in. Les still has a season to play out. I am the biggest JLee fan cause this kid showed massive loyalty to LSU despite Miles jerking him around. You never heard him cry.

If you look at my post history, you will know that I have been a Lee fan from the very start (2008). He took a lot of criticism, some of which was deserved, but much was not, and he never shirked responsibility for his play. He then stuck with the program is spite of terrible treatment by our fanbase. This year he has watched JJ get most of the snaps in spite of playing very poorly, but Lee has handled it all with great class and has now accomplished something that very few college QBs can claim...he has led a clutch drive against the clock and the gator crowd to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. I think he will also have the last laugh as he will be an NFL player.
Regarding JJ's confidence...I am sure it has been shaken by all that has happened this season, but he played his best game of the season last night IMHO. While it wasn't good enough to beat an upper tier SEC team on the road, it was servicable. Had Les simply made the switch a couple of games ago, as I thought he should, he may have lost JJ completely.

the thing im so confused about: why is JJ's psyche so super important and his feelings coddled, while JL's is trampled and disregarded?

I find this odd, too.. but all I can figure is that right now, LSU has combined about 1 and a half quarterbacks... if JJ is lost completely, that would actually be even worse...

While I agree with you for the most part I'm tired of hearing this bullshite about JJ's mental state. frick...It's big time college football and if JJ can't hack it put him on the bench.
LSU is not paying Les $3.75 million per year to be JJ's therapist.
