It's Gary Crowton's fault for the mess at the end of the game

I'm not absolving Miles and Jefferson from any blame in the disaster, but the primary responsibility for the disaster rests with Crowton.

It's Crowton's job to call the plays. If he is sending in Jefferson for a running play, then Crowton is responsible for sending Jefferson in with two plays.

After the play failed, Crowton had to call the next play, and he decided to substitute in players when there was clearly no time to do so.

So, yes, Les Miles is responsible for his coordinator and appeared clueless, and Jefferson should have thought about what he would do if the play didn't work and taken control. But the primary goat HAS to be Gary Crowton.

Well its Miles job especially after ALL the clock management issues, To make sure they have all the angles covered for these kind of situations. I say Miles over Crowton.

Whoever made the brilliant decision to take Lee out and put in Jefferson with such little time left is to blame.

Before you say Miles, remember that in 2006 Crowton also had a hard time figuring out which QB to play at Oregon.

You think it was Miles decision to pull the goalline package OUT with 32 seconds left on the clock that only allowed for (barely, thanks T-Bob) one "play"?

I hope Miles takes over the play calling.

That pretty much sums it up. There has to be 2 plays(or more even) and there cannot be substitution with no time outs after a run.

You really think that Miles could handle calling the plays? I'm something of a Miles apologist compared to the rest of the board, but even I don't think that Miles could competently call plays from the sideline with all the other action going on around him.

Thats not what I am saying. I am saying that things should be worked on and the team needs to be prepared for these situations. Thats all on Miles.

Les was on the headset for this and therefore bears ultimate responsiblity because he should have vetoed it, but I'm pretty sure that Crowton was the one who made the call. I think Miles has said such.
