“The necessity of the run that we like as opposed to just a run or an advantage in play to just a play,” Miles said cryptically to explain the personnel change in that situation. He later conceded that the multiplicity of personnel “created some of the issues.”

He wanted to run a specific play because he thought it would be advantageous

He should have simply said, "Is it nap time yet?"

We hadn't run the option enough and we weren't going to miss a chance to run it one more time. After all we average 1.5 yards per option play and that's exactly what we needed.

It was important that we call a run that we thought had the best chance of succeeding rather than just call any run.

As opposed to calling a play too fast without considering the play that gives is the better chance.

Having too may players on the field was a problem.

That betta fur ya?

You rantardoes really need to learn English. Yatspeek hampers your intellectual development.

that's out of context. in order to understand his extemporanous talks, one has to listen to the whole thing. he was trying to explain why mass substitutions were made at the end (including JJ's entry) and that was to create mismatches. ironically, tennessee saw this and responded with their own personnel changes which created the 13 man team for them. coach miles has a speaking problem in case you haven't figured it out yet. taking one or two phrases (he doesn't always use complete sentences) out of context is unfair. (but funny none the less).

Your constant defenses of the man are really becoming comical.

No one is defending him asshat.

But the "Please explain" quotes schtick is tiresome. If you cant understand the quote, you really dont need to form an opinion on our football coach.

"OMG, would you guys please stop asking me these hard questions and let me go home? You know I screwed up again, so why make me have to answer somthing I have no real answer for, or nothing that won't make me look like I have even less of a handle on this football team than you know I already have."

People of normal intelligence would provide answers such as "we thought it was better to run a play we've practiced for such situations."

I heard early on that Miles had a disability - something about a head injury that hampered his speaking ability.

Since then I gave him a lot of slack on word selection and sentence structure, but assumed that him mind was still ok.

If his mind is actually not right, then we need to find a whole person to coach our team.

I would like to have an eloquent coach to sound good in impromtu press utterances, but I want a sound football mind making the actual decisions and communicatiing them to someone who understands his coach-speak.

What I am seeing is very flawed decision making - or worse - decision paralysis.

This is unfair to our program - we don't need a special education hire in the top spot regardless of how unfortunate it may be for the individual.
