gimme your Premiership all time XI

For me, the defence is pretty obvious, anyone who has ever actually been to a game and watched Woodgate and Terry play knows who the better player is. Then you can either have Makelele or an extra attacking player instead, there's no one who really did Makelele's role as well (thus the name, the Makelele role), the only other players of note who really did that job were Ince and Batty, but they're not in the same league. Pearce is a decent shout for left back but I prefer Cole. Carvahlo, Carra and Campbell could also be in contention for the central defence.
Keane is primarily seen a defensive midfielder but he was a more of a box to box player early on, IMO the choice for that role is between Keane, Vieira and Essien, I'll give the nod to Keane. Then you've got the player who plays between the lines, this used to be the job of a second striker in a 442, players like Cantona and Zola revolutionised the role and made it necessary to have an out and out holding midfielder, since then it's been taken over by midfielders who get forward, the likes of Lampard, Gerrard, Scholes (5-10 years ago), Rooney, but I'm gonna go with mr spectacular goal himself, Matt Le Tissier. He scored 100 goals in the Premiership and is one of the most talented Englishman ever born.
If I hadn't chosen Makelele I could've gone with a playmaker along the lines of a Fabregas, Xabi Alonso, Scholes, although I'd probably have picked Gullit.
Up front, Shearer's record speaks for itself, he's a much more complete player than Henry, Van Nistelrooy and Owen could also be in with a shot. If Rooney keeps playing as a centre forward rather than a second striker he could turn out to be as good as Shearer but he's only really played this role since last season. As for wingers, Ronaldo has to be picked, and Giggs is there for being probably the most consistant PL player over a long period. McManaman, Pires and Okacha are also up there.
Also, this is always good for a bit of fun, guess the top 200 Premier League scorers. There are some fricking weird ones. I got 90. LINK

Mephistopheles, have you ever been to York? I'm going there for a day trip on Sunday with my International Students Association and looking for some suggestions.

Peter Schmiecel needs to be in goal. I'd put Thiery Henry over Shearer too. Henry in his prime was the best center forward in the world. I don't think you could ever say that about Shearer.
I like the rest. Of course this is all highly debateable.

Where does Sol Campbell rank in your CB list? The problem with Woodgate for me has been his injury record. Campbell has been playing at a high level for a much longer period.

Also while I like Keane for his workrate, I'd put Vieria above him due to Patrick's superior technique. Also it's difficult to leave out a passer of the quality of Scholes.

Only places I really know are London, Bath, Reading and Manchester. I think York is the sort of place where just the whole thing is a massive tourist attraction, old castles and stuff, but sorry I have no idea.

Yeah Woodgate is an amazing talent wasted. I think in terms of best I've seen in my lifetime, Fedinand, Woodgate, Campbell, Terry....

Yeah, I don't think many people will have a matching team. That's what makes it great.
I prefer Seaman because he was a better shot stopper IMO, I think Schmeichel was a much better communicator and organiser for his defence, and better at coming out.
I never liked Henry as a player for some reason, I liked watching him, but I dunno, I always just felt he got too much credit, he's like the Darren Bent deluxe version - amazing when a team make chances for him but can be shut out of a game. He definitely benefited from Arsene Wenger being so ahead of his time in terms of playing culture and the transfer market, but he did get it done on the pitch when he went out there. I just like a big hard count of a striker and Shearer had it all, power, accuracy, great in the air, could hold it up, could even come short, he was physical as frick.

I'm not sure you are giving Henry enough credit. He scored plenty of goals with no help, as if on his own. He also had the ability to take over games completely. The technique he displayed for a striker of his size is what makes him unique in my estimation. While not afraid of contact, he could be stamped out of games. But he was also playing with one of the best second strikers ever in Dennis Bergkamp, and they had a very strong partnership.

The bold's are my for sure people. Woodgate would be but he's never ever healthy. The ??? I honestly have no clue, you could put in a lot of people. Scholes could definitely crack the squad. The two Dutch strikers could make it as well, Dennis B. and Ruud V.
