I need some help. I lied and told a guy at work that I love to deer hunt and he invited me to go with him. I've never been before. Walk me through what to if i shoot one.

ah, like cleaning it for the meat and such?

probably a video on youtube to teach you. Or just ask the guy to show you and tell him that you are relatively new to the sport

if the guy is smart an by smart I mean he has eyes then he will see right through your lie as soon as you step out of the truck.

Come clean to the guy and chances are you BOTH with have an amazing time possibly getting your first deer/ helping someone get their first deer.

You could tell him you love it, but have never killed anything.

I can't do that. I've told way too many lies. He thinks I've been hunting for like 20 years.

I went and got a Remington .270 and some camo yesterday. I've got about a month to learn everything a seasoned hunter should know.

It will be obvious no matter how many youtube vids you watch. Specially if you kill a doe or small buck and scream like a woman

Try to have a good time but 20 years of experience in the outdoors is not something you can fake.

Aim at the big portion of his neck. If you miss, you tried to make a quick kill(scope must be off). If you hit it, he will pile up, right there(no tracking). Give it to your friend saying, "man, my freezer is full of meat, you can have it", so he won't see you attempt to clean it, or gut it. Thank him, and say "we'll do it again soon" and leave the country, please!

here's how i hope it goes down; tell me if this is how it's done:

-kill a deer
-go find it and tag it (how do you tag it?)
-drag it by it's hind feet back to my truck/drive truck to it
-pick it up into the back of my truck (is this easy? my truck is high)
-drive back to my house and get my brother-in-law to show me how to clean it

I would put "see a deer" before killing and tagging.

If thats the extent of your interaction you might get a pass. However, in my personal circles, if a deer is killed, all parties directly involved in the hunt help with the clean up(one of the best parts IMO). He might insist on helping.

he probably already knows that you have been lying to him and wants a good laugh watching you fake it.

Lets be honest. Deer hunting, rifle shooting, and skinning a deer is not applied Physics, but I personally can tell within 20 min of talking to someone if they are truly a seasoned hunter or a hot air bag. The problem I see here is, if someone pulled that shite on me and I found out, I would be hard pressed not to pound your nose. Where as if that same person came clean, I would be more than happy to help you get your first deer and teach you a couple of things.

Your call bro.

THis. He has to know you are full of shite. You can't fake deer hunting or hunting experience in general.

What kind of lies have you told him?
