Maybe if we keep this thread going long enough you will come back to the light

I am 43 years old and have dieting since I was 23. I have no will power. Some foods I can't resist: foie gras, fatty duck breasts, tonic water, gin, raw beef, etc. The only thing I don't consume are milk and desserts.

I felt the same way and had the same attitude for quite a while. For some reason something just "snapped" Monday and I made a decision to do this. Who knows, I might end up going back to thinking that way, but I don't see it.

Way to go!!
Eventually, you will lose your taste and need for salt.
It happened to me with whole milk. I switched to skim and it tasted like water. After a while whole milk tasted like heavy cream.

I was doing good this week and then I ate a sammy's fried seafood platter today. Not a good start to the diet.

Will start over tommorrow.

I was really interested in doing this and keeping up with the thread. But, I'm probably not going to weed through all of the bullshite that is already present.

Good luck to everybody.

Makes it difficult huh? We need a board for all types of off topic type stuff. Maybe we could name it OT board or OT room....or something along those lines?

Did good today. I kept it under 1500 cals. I did my jog/walk this morning before work, but didn't get to do the evening one. I was really looking forward to it, but life happens sometimes.

Setting the alarm earlier for tomorrow and will try to double down on the exercise again.

Well, I had chicken fajitas for dinner. A handful of chips w/ small amounts of salsa, and mexican rice. So I guess I screwed up. I'll wake up feeling like I licked a salt lick in the morning. Then I was gonna take my dog around the neighborhood for a walk but all he wanted to do was sniff things and pee on mailboxes, so we came back inside and I cleaned the house for about an hour. Surely I burned some calories right?

My last dog used to do the same thing. One time I walked with him, I counted him peeing on signs/mail boxes 20-something times. It was hard to walk with him to say the least.

I tried to go walking with current dog (in my avatar which I just got today) tonight and it was a disaster. We got 4 houses down and he decided he didn't want to walk anymore. And he fought me the whole way with his leash for that 4 house distance. I tried at least. Tommorrow will be better.

Since a successful diet has to vary I look for low calorie versions of things I like a lot. Last night:

Grilled flank steak, 4 oz only 200 cals
Sauteed portobello mushrooms with merlot sauce, 80 cals

That's good news! How was the merlot sauce prepared? That almost seems too good to be true.
