Few things on JJ

I really felt like there weren't enough threads on the QB situation, so I felt like I had to give my .02 pesos.

But first I want to go ahead and say that it is time to give Jarrett Lee a chance to see if he can establish any sort of rhythm with the offense. Miles really owes it to his team to see if he can find any kind of consistency on offense, something that is sorely lacking with JJ at the helm.

I don't know about you guys but I was infuriated by Miles' press conference in the afternoon. Infuriated not because of his comments - adding to his litany of gaffes - but infuriated because he never said that he will start Lee. Instead, he steadfastly defended JJ and said he had a decent game, choosing instead to blame the offensive line and WRs. But while I realized that Jarrett Lee was not going to get a fair shot this week when the offense desperately needs a shot in the arm, I suddenly realized just how bad JJ had been this season.

11-of-19 for 172 yards and a career-best three touchdowns
vs Vandy:
20-of-29 passes for 138 yards on a night when the running game racked up 178 yds
vs. UL-L:
16-of-25 for 165 yards and two touchdowns

15 passes for 233 yards and two touchdowns
@UGA:
18-of-27 for 212 yards and one interception
vs Auburn:
242 yards against Auburn on 21-of-31 passing with two touchdown passes and one TD run in what was the best game of his career
vs Tulane:
11-of-17 passes for 163 yards with two touchdowns
@Bama:
10-of-17 for 114 yards and one touchdown, had to leave the game in the 3rd quarter
@Ole Miss:
Passed for a career-high 250 yards with two touchdowns on 19-of-37 passes
vs Arkansas:
17-of-25 passes for 179 yards and two touchdowns with one interception
Bowl Game vs Penn State:
202 yards on 13-of-24 passes with one score on a rainy, muddy field

Now, these are not eye popping numbers (I probably was not too impressed at the time). But without a half-decent running game and with an undersized offensive line, JJ did his part. In fact his stats are better than McElroy.

Fast forward to this year, the defense is arguably one of the best (if not the best) in the country, the OL no longer yields 3.5 sacks/game and while we don't have a Heisman caliber RB Ridley is well on pace for 1200 yds rushing. which brings us to JJ, when a mere average performance by his standards would have been enough to have us salivating at the prospect of post-season honors for LSU he has completed a measly 43-of-79 with 2 TDs and 4 INTs for a mere 54.2% compared to 61.5% last year.

What has really happened to JJ? After a decent start to 2010 (15-of-21, 151 yds, 2 TD, 1 INT on an attempted throwaway) he has thrown for less than 100 yds and 3 INTs. Is it merely the coaching (or lack of it), or inconsistent and sometimes overhyped receivers, or has he just lost his confidence? Will he ever regain it after he has lost (seemingly) the entire fan base and some of his team members in the process?
