Not sure if it's been discussed already so please don't crucify me, but was his hold really a hold or just a pancake block?

I just watch the play and it didn't look like a deliberate hold at all.

If that doesn't get called, the outlook of the game is significantly different.

Yes it is. We may have even gotten everyone's precious ESPN highlight clip.

One of the few things T-Bob did correctly Sat. nite. Ive watched it over and over and cannot see where he did anything wrong. However, He and Hurst were getting blown up all night

based on what I've read over the past 48 hours, it depends on your view of the team/game...if you're a negative/pessimist type it was clearly a hold and T-Bob was fricking horrible the whole game. He's only playing because Les wanted a celeb's son on the team. If you're more positive about the win and are still somewhat optimistic about the season, the it clearly wasn't a hold, but a great block.

I'll tell you this: the personal foul called for a hit on a QB running for the first down marker was the worst call of the game.

Football has taken protecting QBs too far....

Totally bogus holding call. Hebert played respectable. If you isolate on him every play, you gonna see he was pretty solid. Negative Posters just "jump on the bandwagon" & perceive without actually analyzing his play last night. Heck, we are lucky to have him as a roaming 6 man.

He was in bounds. Clean, HARD hit by Barrow. A few yrs ago ESPN used a high lite of Rey Maluga(?) of USC all year long, and it was not this close.

Oh, I agree that T-Bob did not hold on that play. I like to look at big plays in slo-mo and frame by frame when I watch the replay.

here it is. its hard to tell, abc never replayed it, but his arms look extended and fixed the entire time, so if he was holding, he was doing it in the least effective way possible.

Exactly what I said the moment it happened. Yates was running for the first down line, not running to get out of bounds. Barrow hit him to prevent a first down. Bogus call. Problem I have is Miles is no where to be seen arguing for his player. Get the F down there and give that ref an earful.

Hurst yes, but Hebert not so much. If you watch the game in slo-motion you will see that Hebert (to my surprise) played a pretty good game. Hurst got blown by often and when Williford came in, he didn't look to good either.

He got pushed around and man-handled most of the night. On Murphy's fumble, he was pushed at least 5 yards back. That's just one of several I can remember off the cuff. I would be very interested to see how he is graded by the staff after viewing film.

I agree, after I got home and re watched the game, I replayed it about 10 times. Didn't see a damn thing. UNC was lucky as hell to be in that game at the end.

I see him grab the dudes arm, but I don't think it impeded the guys movement at all. He wasn't even going for the ball, just jogging towards the play.

Somebody was listening to Bobby Hebert's show tonight.

It was a hold, and listening to the idiots on the radio saying it wasn't was comical.

Bluetunatiger - without a doubt you are a "bandwagon" type of guy. How bout you isolate on each of Hebert's plays & come back with your overall grade. You might be a bit surprised.

Wow. That's the first I've got to see that play again. Hebert just planted his guy in turf. What a horrible call that was. BTW, what a run by Ridley. Just a super cut outside and shows really good acceleration down the sideline too.
