I saw 1 sustained drive by the offense? Yes or No?

I can remember 1 sustained drive by the offense. It was the one in the 4th quarter with Ridley scored but was called back. I know, it didn't end in points so it shouldn't be considered "sustained." I'm giving a little grace here. Outside of that drive, the offense scored on big plays.

What the hell is wrong with that??? We have been begging for big plays. Not many times to teams have 20 play drives!

Tim Tebow and Florida made a habit of short scoring drives. I call them knockdown punches. You score fast on someone, you knock the wind out of them- just like when UNC got off the mat and delivered that 97 yard haymaker.

What's wrong is it hurts the defense. Then you add on the turnovers and the D really suffers later in the game. TOP does make a difference, especially against faster teams.

We didn't have a chance for many sustained drives (in the first half)

It was all big plays...........are you not happy with that?

You are correct sir! Its hard to sustain drives when qb is either unable to consistently throw ball down the field. Not sur if its because he can't or if the coaches just don't trust him to throw at will. Just know that we should have been torchin UNC depleted db's. But what do i know!

Florida's defense was really hurt by tebow and harvin's quick scoring drives all the time.

Great teams can balance both. They can run the ball and throw screens that eat up the clock. Then they can burn you long or break out a long run when they want.

You can't honestly sit here and say u think the team we saw Sat night looked like a championship worthy team. Word is out on speacial team play so we more than likely won't have that to fall back on again. QB play needs to improve and fumles have to stop!

I was there and saw more than that. If the backs would have held on to the ball (4 fumbles) we would have scored from the 15 yard line on our first possesion of the second half and if the refs didn't call a bullshite holding peanlty on T-Bob when Riddly scored a touchdown also in the second half, LSU would have been up 41 or 44 to 10, I don't think the board would be as negative as it is today. The coaches can only put them in a position to be succesful but the players have to make it happen. One thing I don't understand is why Ford didn't get a chance to play some. So I think there were some sustained drives and then the penalty's or fumbles screwed them up.

Just remember, this is the first game and everything bad that happened is fixable. We did not open up with a cupcake like most of the top 25 did. It's just too early to panic yet.

My opinion for what it's worth.

This!!!!!

The defense has to get off the field. The offense had got to do something...

Glad I read this post. I was cheering on the Randle catch and Shep run. I didn't realize I should have been complaining. I'm new at this.

has anybody mentioned field possession here? we had the ball around the 50 or better almost every drive of the game. you get 1 first down and you are in scoring position. we fumbled in the redzone, missed a field goal (should have gone for 4th there), and had a td called back. we couldn't punch it in, but we moved the ball enough to have scoring opportunities. most were setup by returns.

we needed points in the 2nd half. I don't think anybody on this board would have been upset with big plays or a sustained drive. Fact is, we had neither. A good team can do either one when it is needed.

good point. at one time last night on the replay, i think midway in third quarter, lynn rollins said that lsu's average starting field position was thier own 49 yard line. i'll take that over long, sustained drives anytime.

I would too if they would find a way to capitalize and score, or at least keep the other team pinned in their own territory.

I dont remeber the last time I saw LSU go 80 yrds in 12-13-14 plays that ate 6 plus mins off the clock.

Had to be in 2008.
