While JJ did not look great at times and needs to improve progressing and seeing the whole field to become a good quaterback.

JJ did a good job of evading the rush and not getting sacked. The pocket was breaking down pretty fast and he was at least able to evade some sacks.

J. Lee fans need to remember that he is not a good scrambler. When he got pressure he would throw the ball up into bad spots and get intercepted or sacked.

With all that being said if J. Lee has improved by not putting the ball up anytime he is is trouble than maybe he would be a good choice.

I just really hope they develop some form of identity on offense this year and stick with it.

My preference would

I find it hard to understand why so many fans are willing to believe that JJ can and will improve based off of playing time and experience, but refuse to afford JL the same possibility. Is it at all plausible that the RS FR QB that had all the problems in 08 might have matured, learned, and would perform better if given similar opportunities?

JJ's face looked lost out there if you saw it closely.

remember when we had this exact same conversation last year. we should JL in there see what he can do b/c undoubtedly got better. then he played at home against LA Tech and shat the bed. What exactly would JL have to do for you NOT to want to see him in there?

I saw it ... at one point he was on the field looking at the sidelines squinting. I asked my husband "do you think he has some type of vision problem?" He looked like I do when I squint wiht my contacts ...

Just a thought ... but yes, I thought he looked dazed and confsued on the field at times.

I do beleive J. Lee can progress and move past his issues he had. I also think he could be a top notch quaterback with a good arm and quick release.

However, It speaks volumes that the staff seems to be sticking with Jefferson.

Maybe this means they have not seen J. Lee progress and improve his mistakes.

It looks like the oline is going to have some issues this year so our quarterback will be dealing with a lot of pressure.

I'd like to see him get more than one chance. Also, I'd like to see an OC put together a game plan that benefits his QB's strengths instead of trying to force a game plan on a player. Of course, if that were the case Crowton wouldn't be the OC.

Right on the money. The issue is we dont have a coordinator that can game plan for a qb's strength.

last year against LA Tech he went 7-22 for 100 yards and that made you want to see more of him. imagine if it wasn't LA Tech out there on 14 Nov last year. would not we had lost to every single other team on the schedule with the night that he had. why get him more time after that? JL was terrible in '08, JJ was mediocre in '09. JL got a chance to show that he improved and was once again terrible. and you response would be to give JL an opportunity to show he's terrible yet again? why?

Giving him more than one chance means showing him that the coaching staff has faith in him to improve. A series per game, maybe? Why not experiment a little, especially to try and spark an offense that is struggling?

The other part I mentioned is that we currently have an OC that thinks his scheme is perfect and doesn't need to be adjusted to the strengths of his players. If JJ obviously struggles at the option, why keep running it?

IMO I would like to see him get a few series again. Just maybe let JJ take a break and watch from the sideline. It could help JJ improve while also giving JL some more gametime just in case JJ would get hurt. People on here are always refering to the Alabama game last year, how many snaps prior to bama did lee have.

JJ is our QB..I am fine with that too.If LM was going to bring JL in, he would have done it last night.

I second that. They haven't seen Lee progress from his major mistakes he made that got him benched in the first place...

Well it cant hurt to put JL in. Hell you can only have so many 3 and out before your defense out on the field gets tired. The team needs a true leader on the field, is JL that I truly don't have a clue? Is JJ a leader on the field the answer to that question I can answer is NO.

You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure it out. Look at JL’s stats from his 8 starts and 16 interceptions with 7 pick sixes (a new NCAA record), and it kind of sticks out, and then go watch the 4th quarter of the Bama game and then the LA Tech game from last season.

Meanwhile, last night Jefferson hit better than 70 percent of his passes and threw two touchdown passes, one of them a 51 yarder to Reuben Randle that was right on the money. While his performance wasn’t perfect as he made two stupid mistakes, over all his performance was pretty good and yes an improvement. Now the play calling and coaching decisions as usual were utterly atrocious, but that is beyond his control.

Yeah...especially after he hit on that 51 yard perfect pass to Reuben Randle in the second quarter.
