LSU is as talented as anyone in the country. Is the percetion of the program being the 4th best team in the SEC West based on a lack of respect for Miles as a coach? Your Thoughts?

i'd say its based more on our performance over the past two years and the fact we have the same qb's

I think it mostly has to do with how bad our offense was last year. But then again, most people would say that falls upon the coaches.

Until we prove otherwise, we will be underrated and we should all be fine with that.

So I say yes and no.

I just don't get this since QB wasn't the problem last year. It was the OL and regardless of those problems we still almost finished top 10(we got screwed having to play on that shite bowl field).

I personally love what's being said about this LSU team. When I hear people like Peterson, Sheppard, Montgomery, Ridley, Jefferson, Murphy, Nevis, etc you can tell that they know what's being said and they understand they have something to prove. This just doesn't seem to be a team you'd want to face when they're backed into a corner. Sure, we have the same QBs but both have room to improve. Jefferson won 9 games last year and we had one of the worst offenses in the country. The closer we get the more I'm looking forward to watching this team play with a chip on it's shoulder.

I don't think our O line is as talented as anyone's in the country. You're only as strong as your weakest link.

1. Miles being clueless
2. Crowton having one of the worst offenses in the NCAA last year
3. Defense is more solid than when we had Malveto, but this year we are though of as being undersized - which in the SEC is akin to being Vanderbilt.

Yep. When you finish 112th(or whatever it was) it is hard to be suprised that people aren't really wanting to rank you real high.

112th ranked offense last year, combined with the fact that most media members doing the predicting don't take the time to do their homework to see that yes lsu lost some players on defense, but they in all liklihood will be better in every position this year. It's easy for media to be followers....a convincing win or two early and lsu will be right back in the conversation. It is actually a good place to be. Being in the SEC it doesn't make a damn what you are ranked if you perform on the field.

This, plus play calling and a lack of preparation.

you got to look at some of the teams the media is picking over lsu....Cinn? Auburn? Oregon State? there are a couple others on some of the most recent lists i saw that i just had to laugh at. Cinn showed how good they were against florida.....auburn got skullfricked by lsu last year and lsu only gets better...lol....and Iowa and Wisconsin in the top 10....PLEASE...lol A 17th ranking preseason is about right.....or 16 or whatever they are.....a few wins and they are right in the thick of things.

so ofwhap? you mentioned lack of preparation......given the time to prepare for a team...such as a bowl game, whou would you take, saban or miles? Isn't saban the master and being prepared if given time?

Yes, Miles has the better bowl record. Why has LSU looked so consistently sloppy since 2005? And I'm not even talking about preparing for a particular team, but LSU's teams look lost.

I think last years OL was definitely the weak link. However, I think the addition of Blackwell, Hurst,& Lonergan as starters, in addition to Ben Wilkerson assisting in the coaching of the OL will make all the difference in our ability to run the football and control the time of possession. Bobby Hebert said the key to a great offense was having a great center. I'm glad Miles paid attention to Bobby's wisdom and analysis and replaced T-Bob with Lonergan as the starter. First intelligent move Miles has made since last season in addition to hiring Ben Wilkerson.

Someone needs to step up as the team leader. Have not had that since Dorsey.

We aren't getting the benefit of the doubt like we did in prior years, now we are only getting the doubt (which is well deserved).
