So I get this offer in the mail that they will send me free hunting equipment (including guns) to field test and review. All it costs is a subscription to their mag. Seems too good to be true. I mean how will I get a gun? UPS drops it on my doorstep?

The club offers up about a dozen items for field testing each month. The magazine has over half a million subscribers. I reckon if you wait your turn and continue paying a subscription each year theres a solid chance you'll have tested out a cheap useless trinket within the next 500 years free of charge. 
Seriously, that mag is crap. Nothing but advertisements and articles plugging the advertisers. Theres really only one or two hunting mags worth a shite anymore..

Thats a good one, another good one which is slowly turning to crap is Sporting Classics. Petersons Hunting does a pretty good job too..

I think I must've signed up when I was a kid or seomthing, but they keep sending me shite. Once or twice a month I get a packet of shite.
