Different take: River's commitment helps with Ely

Hear me out.
Ely probably knew that we were going to take 2 QB's in this class. Committing to a team that will take another QB that is yet to be announced is a lot more unsettling than commiting to a team where you know your competition.
Not to take anything away from the guy, but River's isn't some phenom that is going to scare everyone else away.

I like Rivers better and I'm not saying that just because Rivers is a Tiger. I'll continue to say this even if we get Ely as well.

This makes sense. Especially since some think that Rivers is more of a project and will take a little longer to develop into someone ready to get on the field.

Ely backing off of LSU because of Rivers commmitting to LSU makes no since considering hes HIGHLY considering Florida after the QBs they have signed.

Flask, I trust your logic.

For Ely it really just depends on what type of situation he's looking for. From everything I've read on him he's a hell of a competitor, there is no way competition bothers this kid. If he's looking for early playing time his best shot is Ole Miss/Clemson. If he's looking at the best program/prestige then it's UF and if he had an offer Notre Dame. IMO LSU is a combination of both situations. He would be competing for the starting position his 2nd year and the overall team will be very good.

Rivers is a very good pickup. With more muscle his throws will be easier. I found him to be very accurate. He takes a lot of chances with the ball and gets away with it, from his video. Again though, its a highlight video. All of them look good.
As for Ely, he seems to play bigger then his frame. Im not exactly sold on him in Crowton system cause his accuracy, but time will tell. I still think if we dont land our 1st and now 3rd choice at Qb, that a Oliver will get a second look witht the tigers. I wouldnt be to upset with that.

Just checked out Rivers' film on rivals then watched Oliver's. Honestly I think Oliver is the better QB; I dont see why we offered Rivers but not Oliver

This is the exact same phrase that was used to introduce the original idea of Trindon playing DE.
It was also the same phrase Crowton used when he first convinced Miles to feature option to the short side.

Not saying Rivers is a bad QB, but IMO Oliver has a little better accuracy and arm strength...maybe that has something to do with his mechanics, but that can be fixed
