Trust me...dont waste your time. Bay Leaf is way better. If you want to go somewhere else...go to India 4 U on the north shore.

I agree. I only go occasionally because it's almost within walking distance of my house.

Absolutely not worth the drive. The only indian anywhere near new orleans that is worth any kind of drive is India 4U in Mandeville and that is only worth driving across the causeway...not from Baton Rouge.

I have made the drive to NOLA to try Nirvana. I say not worth it again. Taj Mahal in Metairie has awesome butter chicken, which isnt on the regular menu at either India's or Bay Leaf. (i dont go to himalayas because i find the food isnt consistent).

there are so many awesome things at bay leaf & india's is a quick drive for my lunch break, that i would not make a drive over to NOLA just for indian food, but if i have to go to work out that way, add Taj Mahal to your list of places to try.

Thanks Sky. I'm not a big Indian eater, but my fiance' has been wanting to go to Nirvana for while. To me, when I go to NOLA I want to eat something great. There are too many places to go and I don't want to waste a night at Nirvana if it's not worth it. I'll end up there eventually I'm sure...

Tell your fiance not to waste her time.

Sky, are you sure butter chicken is not on India's menu? I'm almost positive I've had it there before.

if she wants to try it, you prob arent going to talk her out of it. i made my guy go with me to
try the one on magazine. the service was shoddy.
the entrees were okay, but nothing that i
couldnt get better in BR. we didnt even take to go boxes & we are into leftovers, unlike some
people. we ended up leaving and getting dessert a few blocks down somewhere else.

Neauxla, i dont think butter chicken is on the menu. we asked for it last time we went to
India's & the waiter asked the owner who is ALWAYS there. They told us what the closest thing
to a butter chicken. cant recall the name. we tried it. and i wasnt the same and didnt hit the
spot.

Ive gotten in it at Bay Leaf once, but its not on the menu either. It was just on the buffet one
day I was there for lunch. Never asked at Himalayas.

Yeah, T what everyone says is right. The best thing about Nirvana is that you can get the buffett to go for $10 and it's like 4 meals. The only time I really like going is for the buffet but i wouldn't drive an hour for that. Just go one saturday for lunch when your already here for something else.
