As an LSU fan, I am really tired of all of the Les Miles bashing.

He's not a bad coach. We, as LSU fans, have become spoiled over the past few years due to our success. Success as in two national titles within 4 years. Because of this, LSU fans are now ready to call for the neck of any coach if we don't finish in the top 5.

The reality is that we're in the SEC, every team is LOADED with talent and depth. We're facing the Nick Saban era in Alabama and we just now got done with the Tebow era in Florida.

We've had our time of recent success. Maybe it's just me, but we have a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP winning head coach. I can take the fact he has a couple "down years" 2 years removed from winning the title. You also can argue that it was "Saban's players"...yes...but without the Mad Hatter calling for the 4th down conversions, we wouldn't have won anything that year.

LSU fans need to step back, breathe, and be patient. Our time will come again soon enough. Hopefully.

Still doesn't outweigh the constant "connect-the-dots-to-Les Miles-incompetence" threads/posts.

Are all LSU fans like you guys? Can someone please enlighten me so I don't start to turn on my own...

I live in Oklahoma now, so I don't see many Tigers fans these days.

The constant freaking whining about Les is absolutely unbearable. Sounds like a bunch of pre-teen girls..

as is the constant fill in the blank arguments defending him. let the season play out and see what everyone's opinion is after the season. if he goes 10-2 or better then he's done a great coaching job obviously. i would even be happy with 9-3 this season, but 8-4 is what I expect. 7-5 or worse and it's time to show him the door no questions asked.

You're wasting your breath. These people are not coming from the same place you are and you'll never convince them. The motivation that drives them is not out and out fandom for the LSU Tigers.

I'm sure their motivations are diverse - it could be that Miles would not shake their hands in the bathroom at Walk Ons; or that they still can't accept tha Saban left for the Dolphins and ended up in Bama; or maybe they had another favorite candidate for the head coaching job; or perhaps a prep player they know or like was not offered a scholly; or their favorite player has not gotten the playing time they think he deserves; or one of a million of other things.

Bottom line, is you can read their posts and get enjoyment out of them and even engage them in conversation but I think it's a mistake to think that they are open minded enough on the issue to ever be convinced that they're wrong.

I concur...I wonder why the posters that still use that word could possibly think that it's clever.

Actually, I consider all you Miles apologists to be negatigers, because you would prefer to keep LSU mediocre rather than hiring a more competent coach who can actually coach.

It is not that at all, It is the fact that we have always enjoyed respecting our Coaches and players no matter how good or bad they where percieved to be. We Love LSU and yes we do not like everything they do on the field during games and the decisions sometimes stink, but all in all we are always pulling for our Tigers to win.

No we do not win them all but, we have always won the majority of the games over the years. Yes we have had Coaches we do not like but we do not use public access to knock him down at every turn to the point that it effects the recruiting or National opinion of our School LSU. All you hear on all the networks and tabloids you read is that LSU is not any good and we do not have good enough players to play in the SEC.

It is all derived from the negative perception here on this board and others also. All the negatisum is from a small handfull that chooses to override the majority who are trying to help the situation. We all know that Les Miles is the Coach now there is nothing that is going to be changed until after the season. Now after the season we all can decide if we need a new Coach or not and push for that decision to be made.

BUT, until then let's all for once here on the RANT pull for the TIGERS to win and quit all this negative junk and get behind them not against them. It is like yall are wanting them to loose so you can say I told you so. You are not hurting the Coach you are hurting the Team as a whole.

Nice post ... I think this generally sums it up for most rational fans. We can sit here and bitch about how bad Miles is, or we can get excited about the season coming up ... I prefer the latter. To me it's like Christmas as a kid. Sitting in front of all those presents and not knowing what's in them until you open them up. You'll be elated with some and disappointed in others, but that's life. Some people just don't know how to deal with it.

He's a pretty bad coach, but as long as he's here I'm behind him. I have no choice.

One thing I have noticed about LSU fans when I have been to games on other campuses or in Atlanta. They are passionate. I guess I am predjudiced, but we seem to be much more intense. We palyed Va Tech in Blacksburg years ago. We lost and went to THE bar downtown. After several hours, I meet the manager by chance and he tells we really support our team. The night before the game was the most money the bar ever made. He also tells me that we brought many more fans to the game than their rival game with U of Virginia which is three hours away.

With this passion comes a desire to win every game, play in the championship game every year, and have perfect seasons. Very unlikely and unrealistic. I do have a feeling that if Saban were still in the NFL, the rants would be dialed back a little bit, but not that much. If by some happenstance Saban had returned to LSU, we would still have these rants although maybe not quite as pronounced.

Les Miles has to redeem himself some kind of way this year. I don't know what that means to everyone on the board. A perfect season to some or an 8-4 to others. We are in a tough conference, everybody knows it. To me Bama and Florida have a leg up on recruiting each year. Saban with reputation, and Meyer sits in the middle of a hotbed of high school talent. The left over recruits in FLA could field many a competitve team in any other conference.

What I think we have been seeing is the fact that we have a long time before football starts coupled to frustration. But we have to win. I can only imagine what this board will be like if we lose to NC in Atlanta. I have watched LSU shop for coaches throughout the years. When we hired Hallman and Dinardo, we couldn't miss. Start building more trophy cases. Archer turned out to be less than stellar also. Don't forget that coaches now seem to make the same amount of money that the TARP funds promised to Goldman Sachs. The people I want to see coach LSU, if it comes to that, don't give me the impression that they would come here.

Everybody wants success so bad that they lose it ocassionally. Some more than others. Some on the baord are more cerebral and thougthful. Some need to be a on cocktail of Prozac, Klonipin, Paxil, and Wellbutrin. Besides, the anonymity of this board lets people say things to others that they would never say to their face. It's just the way it is. The anonymity also leads some to believe that they know coaching and what's best for everyone. What we don't know about the team, the preparation, the injuries, wha has the flu, etc could fill volumes on game day. Can we do well this year? Yes I do think so. Will we? I sure the hell hope so.

If you can't realize that in the time you reference the same amount of bitching and complaining was going on in bar rooms and living rooms and in Tiger Stadium on Saturday nights, you're being foolish or ignorant. The internet has given voice to the fan in a way never realized before, and you're gonna hear everyone's two cents. Good AND bad.

And those networks and tabloids and articles aren't being written by "negatigers." They are predominantly being written by outside parties. I truly doubt that those writers are deciding that LSU can or can't play in the SEC based on a website.

In other words, you want to impose some sort of absurd political correct code on all tiger fans to neuter anyone who doesn’t see the world quite like you and stop fans from speaking their mind. Okay, I get where you are coming from.

Moreover, I haven’t seen any realistic tiger fans calling for the team to lose to prove a point. However, I seen plenty of realistic tiger fans calling for better coaching so the team can win more games. Furthermore, exercising ones right to unhindered freedom of speech without hindrance from insane codes of political correctness being imposed doesn’t harm the team, it is only morons who want to impose their idiotic forms of political correct codes on others that are stupid enough to make such asinine suggestions.
