I have deliberately avoided this movie for years, not wanting to pollute the perfection of the other two. I am in Tahoe right now, so I was compelled to rent II last night. I watched it with some of my wife's family who wants to see "what happens next". What should I do?

III cant come near the greatness of I or II, but it does have its good moments. Just watch it to complete the trilogy.

III is ok but it just pales in comparison to the first two.

It's wprthy of a viewing, that's about it. I'm glad I saw it but I'll probably never watch it again.

It's not even close to being as bad of a movie as a lot of people say it is. The Godfather Part III is actually a pretty decent movie save for a few subpar acting performances. It's just that the first two Godfathers set the bar so high that a lot of people had unrealistic expectations for the third movie. So yeah, compared to the first two movies, Godfather Part III seems like Manos: Hands of Fate but it's not anywhere close to being as most people say it is.

The Godfather Part III isn't all that bad. Sofia Coppolla is not too good in the film but that role wasn't meant for her. She HAD to do it because Winona Ryder pulled out on the day of. While it isn't in the same league as the first two movies, The Godfather Part III was still good enough to get nominated for 7 Academy Awards.

Most likley got nominated because it was Godfather 3 and not because it was actually that good.

I thought it was good. That's good enough for me. Sure, it's no where near the first two's level but no one should have expected it to be. It had been 16 years since the last movie.

Yes it is. They turned Michael into a total pussy. If for that, it would have been decent enough but the fact they turned Michael into a whinny pussy was more than enough for me to hate this movie.
