I'm apologizing in advance for my inability to post links. There is a great article in the sports section of thenewsstar.com about Gerrand Johnson and his commitment to ULM.

He confirms offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Nebraska, and others. However, he maintains that he will stick to his commitment no matter what. He said that Nebraska was his second choice.

The most interesting thing to me was that he mentioned reading the message boards after his commitment. He said that some of the message boards were bashing him and his mother. He didn't read the Alabama and Arkansas message boards, but he figured that they'd both be negative.

He's only made one "C" is his 3 years of high school and will be qualified at seasons end.

I must admit that after reading the article, I'm extremely impressed with the kid and hope he keeps the promises he made.

Best of luck Gerrand!

From above link

quote:

"I like the coaching staff down here right now at ULM and Tech," Hunter said. "I believe they're going to have winning seasons."
Hunter said the Warhawks have not made an offer yet either, but he would consider sticking close to home once he sits down to access all of his options following his senior year.
"I would stay at home and make Louisiana better "” make my hometown better," Hunter said. "It feels good playing for your home city. It's in the mix."

Holy crap if ULM could pull Johnson and Hunter in the same class. Long shot at best but that would be awesome.

Even after getting early offers from SEC schools and later getting berated on those same schools' message boards, Johnson is sticking with head coach Todd Berry and the Warhawks.

Eddie Lacy could pass Rayville High with a 4.0

I would like to believe he chose ULM over those schools but the only thing that makes sense are they weren't committable offers.

How bout the fact that the local sports radio show talked about how much of a beast he was but then called him GerraRd for 2 hours?

That would be huge...but one thing to note, ULM runs a 3-3-5 defense...I'm not sure either one could play DE in that scheme...imo.

Well honestly that is beyond ridiculous...I understand LSU not offering (right now), but ULM? Come on now.

I'm willing to bet they would tweak their system if need be to get these guys on the field.

Who gives a frick anymore. He is gone and didn't even mention LSU. He actually mentioned Nebraska!

He is NOT a Tiger nor will he be. Lets give the focus of the board to Louisiana guys who love LSU!

Eddie Lacy can't pass a urine test!

And as for the 3-3-5, ULM is a program that probably runs it's defense to fit its players. Not the other way around.

U dont know didly shite about rayville. although our school isnt ranked very high in academics i assure that the honor classes are top notch. i mean i went 2 rayville, i came out with a 3.5 and a 25 on the ACT. Not to mention a 10,000 dollar scholarship 2 Attend Louisiana Tech, which is a pretty damn good school. So dont bash rayville. and if i remember it seems rayville is producing as many if not more D1 school recruits than WESt monroe in the last 6 yrs. And im talkin about big time schools like BAMA, LSU, NEBRASKA. didnt meant to get into that discussion but ppl trippin on here he chose 2 go 2 ulm

You just proved my point that Eddie Lacy could graduate at Rayville with a 4.0
