If he wasn't motivated to play for $30 million, how are they going to motivate him in this league?
How many of us would be motivated to do shite, if we had $30 million in the bank? Honestly..

You'd have to love the game for its own sake I guess.
Lots of folks love playing sports and do it for free. For me it was basketball. I played from age 10 to age 35 (cumulative injuries forced me to stop).
In mid school, high school, intramurals at LSU, YMCA men's league post college, etc. I coached YMCA kids' ball for 11 years too.
Love of the game man.
I bet there are guys on this site that would play professional football for $60k a year if they could. Lots of them. They love the game.
Jamarcus doesn't love the game IMO.
Too bad. He could've been so much more in the NFL if he had a love of the game combined with his exceptional talent.
Unfortunately individuals with out of this world talent and a true love of their game are somewhat rare. Jrock is not one of them, based on what he has showed since entering the NFL as the number 1 pick.

He was just trolling and you swallowed the hook line and sinker.
How is that trolling? There are a ton of TD posters that are of the opinion that Miles generally can't develop talent. Are they all trollers too or can they not be correct about that particular issue but specifically wrong about Miles having a nothing to do with Russell's failures in the NFL?

There are individuals driven to do the things they love by things other than money. I know this may be a shock to you but some people with money are still driven individuals. JR doesn't appear to be one.

only those of us with character...there was probably close to a billion dollars in total earnings in the NBA game 7 last night, and there was a ton of heart being poured into the effort. Peyton Manning is probably going through game film right now...

Wait until after the season and make a judgment of the Raiders post JR.

I am in the camp that thinks it could be good for him.
Lets face it, his confidence probably isnt the best atm. Let him work on his game, and get his swagger back.
Not to compare him to Warren Moon...but Moon's time in the CFL sure did wonders. Russell is a super athlete....hopefully the same thing can happen for him.

Coincidentally, there are a ton of TD posters who are wouldn't be able to sign in if it weren't for the 'remember my password' option. Miles develops talent as good as most. Saban and Meyer are the only two better in the SEC.
His record of putting players into the NFL is all the proof he needs. If I recall.. since 2005 we've had a first round pick in every class except for this last one. If it weren't for what is effectively a career ending injury Black would have gone in the 1st round.

Good luck to him, that guy needs some serious direction.

You mean Saban is happy he wasn't the only one who could not cut it in the NFL. Maybe they will all form a club.

I am not convinced it would have mattered in the end, but the dumbest move was the hold out after he was drafted. He just never got on track and then he started hitting the pasta, fries, burgers, ince cream, etc. pretty hard.

he was prepared to take over the league, then he finished under miles, instead of saban. now he's out of the nfl because of the lingering effects of miles. had saban stayed, the raiders wouldve beaten the saints in miami. miles just cant coach up the talent like saban can. sad, just sad.
