and why is that the headlines that stay on ESPN's college football and college sports pages emphasize "Sources: SEC covets Texas, OU for expansion" but cover up the fact that the major catalysts have been Texas, Pac10, and Big10 with this boring headline: "Oklahoma, Pac-10 officials meet; Texas next?"...what are they trying say? why is the SEC headline so sensational?

ESPN knows what's going on from the SEC from Slive probably. They know that nothing is set in stone right now. Hence, there is nothing to report.

I think they're too afraid to be wrong so they report as little as possible.

Slive probably told them to STFU so he could make the deals. Stirring shite up was not helping.

ESPN is not Twitter or orangebloods.com. They are SUPPOSE to be a reputable news source.

They can't run every single rumor even if it has some legs, as news. They have to have higher standards than Tigerdroppings conference expansion board

i still think there's been LESS out there to confirm SEC interest in TU and OU than there has been to the A&M rumors.

Well ESPN doesn't run news depending on what's "out there". They have their own standards and procedures to determine what they report.

But hey go with the ESPN hates the SEC angle, no one has ever looked bad saying that.

ESPN was reporting every leak they could from OrangeBloods.com

Now they aren't.

Makes me curious too!!!

yeah. i'm on here a lot posting stuff (espn hates sec) like that. certainly not interested in how i look on here. nor am i interested in any glib statements about some kind of journalistic standards and ESPN (see Les Miles/Michigan story).

despite your attempts to brush it away, i was raising a question ABOUT journalistic standards and procedures. there are plenty of higher ups talkings about this or that. the "sec wants texas/ou" just is getting prominent play. and a splashy headline. just seems like one of many rumors. and it gets the prime spot. seems like the article itself talks MORE about A&M. therefore, the headline is quite misleading. not suggesting any motive for this. just wondering why/how it happened.

I have a feeling ESPN knows this whole Pac16 idea has gone up in smoke.
