Hornbeck Offshore Services has filed suit in federal court in the Eastern District of Louisiana against Ken Salazar in his capacity as Secretary of the U.S. Dept. of Interior, et al. The suit alleges that the shut-down of deep-water drilling operations is arbitrary and capricious and not done in accordance with applicable federal regulations. The suit asks for the court to grant a permanent injunction to stop the drilling moratorium.

We can only hope they are successful. I am in Houston and we are hearing of many job losses across all phases of the service industry due to this drilling moratorium.

You with Hornbeck? Is this the first suit like this?

I know a local company that does some ROV work off HOS boats. They will be happy if HOS wins the suit.

Agree 100%........this 6 month moratorium is completely absurd, and if hopey mcchange really thinks BP would give a dime to any oilfied worker who is hurt by this, he is sadly mistaken.

I work for a mid-sized GOM operator based in Houston. This is the first suit of this type that I've heard about. It was filed on June 7. I have a copy of the suit that was forwarded by an industry colleague. It is very legitimate. The law firm filing this on behalf of Hornbeck is Jones, Walker of New Orleans, a very respected and top flight law firm.

Great Idea. Put those enviro-wackos on defense. A re-straing order should be be successful before a federal judge in Houston or New Orleans

Are you that dumb. Most of the key leadership are enviro wack jobs and the temporary ban is what they want. Never let a crisis go unoticed- rham boy. The underyling fact is they want to ban offshore drilling all together in the GOM. Quit living in denial
